Benatar and Giraldo put on an absolutely SMASHING live show...last saw them on the Go tour in '04, got a friend who just saw them in Atlantic City on Sat and said she's still lost nothing off the fastball.

First musical memory that mattered: Hearing Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975. I was 5.

First Musical Loss that moved me: Freddie Mercury. Second was SRV.

Best Rock 'n' Roll moment: Hooking up with a chick from out of state at the Warrant/Firehouse/Trixter show that closed the Red Rocks season. Then going with that girl to a bar near her hotel room and meeting Warrant. Never had to worry about running into her again!

1981- Springsteen, on THE RIVER tour- in the encores, he launched into JUNGLELAND. When they get to the Big Man's sax solo (which was friggin beautiful! ) Bruce hopped up on Roy Bittan's grand piano and starts pumping his fist in the air in time to the beat, while slowly rotating in a circle, so as to get the whole of the arena into it. I start doing it to, and when I look around , all 13,000 people are pumping there fists in unison!!! For a 13 year old kid, that was an amazing moment...I just got goose bumps typing it!

u2- 1987 / Joshua Tree tour. TONS of great moments in this show- the two coolest actually happened BEFORE the band came on and AFTER they left (the band was phenominal, but these two moments were sublime)
1st, before the house lights went out, they were playing the requisite rock and roll over the PA- suddenly the Beatles Twist and SHout comes on and the place just went NUTS! All at once, literally, 12.000 people jump to their feet and start dancing! I knew right then, we were in for a helluva night!
AFTER the last encore (the beautiful "40") the band did their thing of all walking off one at a time, and after Larry left, the audience continued singing the chorus ("How Long..." - if you've ever watched RED ROCKS you know how this goes) and, I shit you not, we all stood there in the dark singing that refrain for at least five minutes after the band was gone. It was just...majestic! (Goose bumps again)

...and after the show, I had really hot sex with my date...so that was pretty cool too!

i'm lucky to have had many great music-related moments in my life. tonight, i was reminded of two of the greatest as i watched the rolling stones' movie, shine a light. one was receiving my first rolling stones all access tour laminate (with my name on it!) in nov 2002. the other was submitting one of my favorite t-shirt designs, to one of my favorite bands, for an event on my favorite holiday & getting overwhelmingly positive feedback from the band, staff & fans in oct 2006. the extra bonus was seeing glimpses of the t-shirts throughout the movie on the giant imax screen tonight.

I too have had many many great moments, but for this thread I can narrow it to two.

As I recently wrote about, the absolute highlight was watching Steve Perry do an extended soundcheck prior to the warm up show for the FTLOSM tour. Words could not describe it.

The second was a bit more emotional for me. I was just reconnecting with my son after 18 years. It was an exciting time for me for that reason. I purchased fan-club tickets to see Kenny Loggins in Florida and made a little vacation out of it for me and my wife. A certain someone we all know and love scored me front and center seats at this little theater. As you all probably know, Kenny starts his show sitting on the edge of the stage. He and I played footsies for the first half of the show. Anyway, one of the new songs he played was "The One That Got Away", a song he wrote for his son Cody, who had had become distant from. This was before the album was out, so I had not yet heard the song. I was so blown away and so touched, that I actually half cried. At the end of the song, he was standing in front of me and I was able to high-five him and shake his hand and tell him how incredible it was. Then, we did a meet and greet and I was able to explain to him what I was going through and how that song really affected me. He was so kind. Later, he stopped by the fan club and a certain someone reiterated how much I was moved at that moment.

Loss of Freddie was the only musical loss that moved me. I miss his voice. I miss others, but not on a personal level. I'd say Lennon, but I didn't really get into his stuff until after he died. I thought Innuendo was Freddie's best and then he was gone so shortly after.

Only other star to affect me like that was John Candy. Both very tragic.

Very sad. Jeff sang a beautiful tribute to Freddie called Forevermore on Talisman's last cd (Talisman 7).

I have had MANY in my life and I hope to have more....But here are a few:
A)Seeing the SP Journey on every tour since Departure.
B)3 FTLOSM shows I saw on that tour.
C)Getting to meet MANY of my musical influences and idols and actually having a friendship with them.
D)Meeting JSS,Tony Harnell,Eric Martin,Steve Whiteman,Steve Augeri,ALL of the members of Journey(past),plus many more.
E)Meeting Steve Perry, shaking his hand, and getting the chance to thank him for influencing me through his music, and telling him that he had been my musical hero since I was 12 years old.
F)Playing to countless sold out club crowds in the Mid Atlantic area in the 90's and today.
G)Getting to showcase for record labels (pre-grunge 1990-1991)
H)Being asked to be part of the back up band for Eric Martin in King Of Prussia,Pa on June 29th,2008.(Christ I hope I don't piss myself).
J)Getting to meet and make a lot of new friends via various message boards and forums, that love music as much as I do!!
(How cool would it have been to have the internet in the 80's?!!)

Oh my, I was devastated by John Lennon. I was sad when Freddie died, but wasn't into Queen at the time (I actually feel that loss more now than I did then). I was sick when Andy Gibb died - we were the same age.

But when Maurice Gibb died, I found out via the internet when I got home from work at 2 am and I was inconsolable. My son thought someone in the family had died as I was bawling my eyes out in the middle of the night. Woke the entire family up. Could not stop crying.

We all know how much Journey music is woven into our lives, well the Bee Gees are welded into mine on the genetic-molecular level and have been since I was 17 (1974). To know that I will never hear those harmonies again, that I missed seeing them live in Las Vegas because the tickets were $300 dollars, that I missed meeting Maurice on the fan cruise during the Andy Gibb Memorial Foundation Auction in Florida in 1994 because I had just gotten my computer and it was too late to get tickets........

So many ifs.......

My attitude now is if you have the chance to meet someone you had better take the opportunity, you just never know....

Now I have to work on Barry and Robin......

I was very young when Lennon died, but I do remember it.

George Harrison's passing was one that really got to me. That night, Bon Jovi opened whatever music award show that was on that night with a beautiful acoustic version of "Here Comes the Sun." Soon after that, I saw Billy Joel/Elton John live. For the encore, both of their bands came out and played "Here Comes the Sun" as well. To this day, I can't hear that song without getting a little choked up.

It's so hard to watch the Beatles Anthology or documentaries or even Hard Day's Night and Help! because those really were the days! And hell, I was only 13 when the Beatles broke up!

George's solo album "Cloud Nine" is one of my favorites - not a bad song on it and produced by Jeff Lynne, who I really like.

Miss him, too.
