She holds the Guiness record for largest vocal range, and also the highest note ever hit by a human......dolphins are the only mammals that can get that high. But Mariah really isn't "rock".

Please...hitting a high note does not make you special...it makes you annoying to dogs. (and most sane humans)

I was responding to your post that said
The only person that can even come CLOSE to her range of octaves is Mariah Carey.

I merely pointed out that NOBODY can come "close" to Mariah's range, since she holds the record. Regardless of whether you like what she sings or not, her voice is still incredible.

There used to be a rumor that she had a 7-octave vocal range. Not true. I heard it described that if she had that vocal range, she would have to be able to hit Barry White-type lows and highs nearly audible only to dogs.

I second the vote for Janet Gardner of Vixen. If you do not believe me, check out Love Is A Killer.

Of course Ann Wilson and Pat Benatar are right up there too.

Disagree! Gal sings with some soul. Love "I'm The Only One"............ranks right up there with "Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin" when it comes to some great sexy songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARmH4FcDKHA
