Bring back Rollie

Postby majik » Mon Apr 21, 2008 3:55 pm

This incarnation of Journey sucks. No matter how good they can pull it off they are only a cover band and its embarassing. They had a chance with Augerie in the studio at least. IMO Schon needs to forget about finding a Perry clone.

I've been listening to the Greg Rollie/Steve Perry era CDs and what a combination it was. These albums stand up even better than I thought before. Why not bring back Rollie and get all retro with new creativity instead of this second rate act cover band.

A bit harsh for the new guy Arnel maybe, but he is still in a cover band and so is Schon and the others. But its over Neal move on, good music is good music give this band a new name at least.

I fixed your misspellings and will ask this.

How the fuck is Journey a cover band? Answer that intelligently if you can.

What a stupid post.

Cheers for the spell check. Its only my opinion bro' and you are free to have yours and correct my typo. As for the explanation, open your eyes and ears and forget about the hype and marketing ploys. I stand by what i've written typos et all.

Now dig out your old Journey albums and behold !! listen to track 1 Of a liftime from Times 3. Everting is crafted to perfection a masterpiece. Schon's guitar tone, style, performance is awesome, peak of creativity.

After that its the music that will do my talking, forget the hype and let the music inspire. Good to see that there are others here with not only an open mind but ears too, kudos.

Ummm... I think you're spelling was better the first go-round.

I like Gregg Rolie too. I didn't appreciate him and what he brought to the table until recently, but I agree, it is pure magic. Love it when he & SP sang together. I'm still hoping for ONE DAY some kind of reunion...

I'm gonna get out and rock to the tunes (AND the awesome people I have met) til this thing runs dry...enjoy the old albums.

My question is how can one tell if this new Journey sucks. What they have done 3 or 4 shows? No one can get comfortable in that short of time. If Perry came back he couldn't either. Have you heard any of the new studio songs on the cd? If you haven't then how do you know they suck?
I'll wait till I see them in concert, listened to several boots and gave the new cd a lot of listen time, before I make a judgement. But so far I like what I hear (like not love)=ERIC

Gregg Rolie rocks! I'm on board with the other comments regarding Journey but I do agree with the comments on the early records and Rolie's abilities. I'd love to see Gregg back.

Rolie is awesome...but he's never coming back. Journey is definitely Schon and Cain's baby.

nobody can deny the fact that without GR there will be no Santana and Journey of today!
but lets also face the fact of the present that theres no room for GR today to be with Journey!
time moves on!

Too bad you weren't able to fix the misspelling of "Rolie" in the subject line too.

Advice: Before championing the return of past members, learn to spell their names.

This has been a public service post. I now return you to Rick's and Maui Tom's swift and deserved verbal beatings. 8)

With all due respect to Gregg Rolie, Journey's ascent to superstardom can be directly attributable to the phenomenal song writing team of Perry and Cain! As brilliant as Perry was, vocally, I give Cain a HUGE amount of credit for writing brilliant songs. I'm not sure we would have seen many of those tracks had Rolie not left the band!

John from Boston

p.s. Perry isn't coming back. Smith isn't coming back. Rolie isn't coming back. Augeri isn't coming back. Soto isn't coming back, and Arnel probably isn't staying, so get used to the Journey shuffle

You would think those things would be obvious by now, and that as the years go by there would be less need to repeat them. Maybe this time they'll listen?

Nah. That would be too easy.

Don't you mean Neil?

But seriously, come on now... how can one expect to be taken seriously on a Journey board (or any board, really) if they can't even spell the band members names correctly. Honestly, if you're on a Van Halen board and you write "Eddy", you deserve what you get. Same goes anywhere. Journey's been around for 35 years... its about time we all get their names correct, yes?

(p.s. - I wonder why no one ever misspells "Steve Perry"?)
