I think that is what bothers me most of all.
It's not a classic... not a legacy song... not a big selling album... but they chose to re-record it with a different singer??!?

I would be willing to bet that Wheel In The Sky is re-recorded how it's currently played in concert (faster, with the rhythm guitar riff midway through). There might be more that are updated, too. But I think putting FITH on the first disc might not be a bad idea. I'm going say Generations is probably the least-heard Journey album (except for the first three). More people were aware of Arrival than knew about Generations. FITH is a monster track that might get some well-deserved attention now.

With this new fucker out, this song could do damage with a little more power around it then say what Generations had around it.

As far as Never Walk Away, well in my mind it makes perfect sense to put out something that REALLY sounds like Journey to get people's attention and just shouts "HEY WE'RE BACK". I'm now waiting to hear the rest of the album.

Agree solidly. But to think that FITH was charted as song #1 on Generations...is a bit iffy, but not that big of a deal. Now if it was around 10 on the album, then I wouldn't be sayin' the little of what I'm sayin'. FITH was the staple of Generations, and even if there were 3-4 good songs on the album, FITH stood its ground then. With this new fucker out, this song could do damage with a little more power around it then say what Generations had around it.
I love Faith In The Heartland. Arnel is doing covers for Steve Augeri. Awesome.I hope they give him credit for singing that song. He made that song, the into with the Yeeeeeeeeeas .That was Augeris doing, Ill be interested on how that will be imatated. Dictation will prove entertaining for sure, like yeh, com on eckProgRocker53 wrote:I'm optimistic as ever for the new record and all but there are so many signs of these guys slowing down and going through the motions...
Doing "Faith in the Heartland" again? Almost completely ripping a song from RoR for the lead single? Half the known new songs being described as "ballads" with titles like "Like a Sunshower"? Not a single surprise on the re-recorded classics either...
Plus, the live stuff... only Arnel and Deen seem to have much energy these days. Piped-in backing vocals don't do much to help either....
Would it hurt that much to take a little bit of a risk on this new stuff? Throw in a re-recorded "Winds of March," "Walks Like A Lady," or "Chain Reaction" for the pure hell of it? Stop recycling songs from past albums? Hell, I'm sure some of the new songs have probably been in the tank since the Arrival sessions..
All that said, I HOPE I'M PROVEN COMPLETELY WRONG.
And I am still 100% in support of the Arnel-fronted lineup and want the band to enjoy success. I'll still be buying the record and hopefully attending a show or two. However... it's just kinda sad that there aren't many signs of Journey really challenging their boundaries at least a little more like they have every album up to now.
Prove me wrong, fellas.

Indeed.
Gotta resist some of the knee-jerk reactions to title reading.
I wish that the FITH redo had been put on the other disc, and replaced where it is with another brand new origina.

I guess they're hoping the casual fan will think it is a brand new song.
