I just want to share these clips I recently came across. It is supposed to be in 1990 (?).

ok that was realy cheezy, as much as I like Arnel. People should stop uploading those gay videos from way back when. Nothing to be proud of, realy.

Hey Pineda1,

So are these your vids or you just found them on Youtube? Asking because any vid with the original AMO Band is rare, as the first vid you posted is.

They seem cheesy simply because 99% of all televised songs on Philippine TV being played by local bands there are pre-recorded and then are lipsynched to. That also goes for the instruments. The drummer never used a synth drum kit, but during these Lunch Date appearances, they'd have the synth drum set in the studio just for the visual. The show Lunch Date was notorious for doing this. Actually back then, one of my goals was to be the first band to play an actual live song in one of the tv studios. Uly convinced me that it would be totally out of the question, simply not possible because they just do not have the electicity to the studio and room for a decent P/A system.

The first vid had to be pre-1990, I would guess 1989 since I knew them personally and recollect their choice of hair styles and clothing. Arnel was much higher in vocal range then the chick.

The second video was post 1990 for sure since many of the original members were not featured in it. I would guess 1992 or later, even maybe after 1995, since I was in the Philippines with one of the original AMO Band members, this couldn't have happened during the time I was there or I would have been present or at least aware of it's production. I was there involved with a music project with one of the AMO Band members between 94' through 95'. At that time, from what Uly had been telling me, Arnel was in Hong Kong.

Anyways, great to see some video of Arnel on how I remembered him to be. Thanks for finding it.

BTW.....I'll set you up with a little bite of trivia, rare since I keep a lot of key information about this locked up. In the first vid, the guy playing guitar with the glasses on at the far right of the screen is the current drummer in the Zoo Band. The lead guitarist for the current Zoo Band is also featured in this video as well, pretty much directly behind the chick, but in this vid he's playing bass guitar, which he never played bass. Only Uly was the guitarist who would sometimes play bass guitar. Uly's on the far left in the vid.

The Sushi Hunter,

Like I said, I just came across these videos today at The unofficial fan site of Arnel Pineda, and posted it here. To answer your question from my first post, no, I am not related to Mr. Arnel Pineda. Just a spur of the moment decision to have it as my username. I am new here and have been lurking in this forum for the past three months only. For the most part, I do enjoy reading the different views and opinions here. It is good to know that you and wednesdays child are able to shed light on how things are back home. It took a lot of courage to post a reply but here I am.

Sushi Hunter, I probably missed where you mentioned your background regarding Arnel, etc...Would you mind posting that again?

As a side note, one of my best friends my senior year of high school was a keyboard player named Nick who's family was from the Phillipines. His dad was a doctor and he had a sister named Vera. We played in a band together in Nick's garage, and we always used to play that Pink Floyd song from "The Wall" that went "Vera...Vera...What has become of you?" and bust Nick's balls about it. It was funny...I miss Nick and my buddy Joe Schultz, the 16 year old guitar prodigy who learned everything the Russians had to teach about guitar...Me, Nick, Joe, Derek, and Mark used to get so high we couldn't tell if the Dr Pepper cans we were holding were scalding hot or icy cold...Anyway, the first collaborative song I wrote was with Nick, embarassingly enough called "Prisoner of Conscience." If you listen to Ozzie and Lita Ford's duet "If I Say Goodbye Forever," or whatever, it's basically the exact same melody, but our song was written about 2 years earlier...

Anyway, I digress...

:D

Welcome.

This board got a bad rap for being hostile toward Arnel. I think you'll find, while some of it did exist at a time, that it has been largely eradicated and others, like myself, have simply changed their opinion of the guy and decided to give him a chance. I wasn't always keen on the idea of Journey going overseas for their next singer, but all of that is just geography really. I think Arnel is fantastic and think they made the right choice. I was hoping for a JSS fronted Journey, and think that would have been epic, but it wasn't to be. So Arnel it is. Now, lets rock! :D

I knew Arnel personally along with the entire AMO Band back in the late 80's. I used to live in the Philippines at one point. Before that however, I lived in Japan for five years total. During that five years, I would go to the Philippines for weeks and sometimes months on end. To this day, some of the best friends I ever had in my entire life are the ones I had in the AMO Band. I have only three American friends total who I can say are equal to the AMO Band members in friendship strength.

Thanks for filling me in on you. I'm an American guy but.....the Philippines has a very important place in my life. I lived, I loved and ultimately cried there. Music was my life's passionate dream that became a reality for me there, for the better part with the help of Uly and the rest of the AMO Band. And I felt so incredibly selfish in the end, when my girlfriend passed away in Pampanga while I was living that passionate dream somewhere else that day.

Music from the collective conscience...
You have to know that in a sense
music is woven on the threads of time
& for a split moment we are one of mind

Rick,

Thanks. You are one of the many posters that I enjoy reading and actually remember you by the pictures posted here after the Vegas show. From the notes and exchanges here, I could tell it was very bad then. In the months that I have been reading the forum, there were only a few who popped up with some venom and they are not what I call regulars basing on those three months . Thanks again!

The Sushi Hunter,

Wow, you had me thinking you are Filipino. You really understood the Filipino psyche. You are right about the soaps, and even lotion, I tried them for a short time. (Sorry to hear about your personal life). Thanks for welcoming me. On the lighter side, I can't wait to go to the nearest Walmart come June 3.

Deano and Rick that's who. :D

I was tired when I wrote that last night, let me elaborate a little better on it. What I was trying to say was in regards to long term friends that I've had the longest in my entire life and in person.

Most times even I thought I was Filipino while I was living there in the Philippines because I was living there just like everyone else. All the time Filipinos who didn't know me that well thought that I was a souvenir. Many people even thought that I was a half brother of Uly, because from what they say, Uly and I had some resemblances.

Nothing too personal about what I said because everyone who knew me personally there knew about the ordeal that I had gone through. It's all part of my history knowing Arnel and the rest of AMO Band, living in the Philippines, singing with them, going back and being part of Uly's then new project, etc. It's like I can look back now and think about it and except all that had happened due to the fact that it all is related together as the one piece of my life.

By the way Jeremey, you may remember me earlier on when I joined. What you missed perhaps is when I changed my user name. At first I was Cal-Jams. Aren't you the singer who was singing with JSS in some video that was posted on here? If so, I thought that you were awesome at what you did in regards to the vocals that night.
