NFL Draft...what's YOUR take on it??

Postby Liam » Thu May 01, 2008 9:43 pm

Honestly I think we did rather well. (Dallas Cowboys). My only complaint is that we didn't reach for a Strong Safety. But we DID get Jones, Jenkins and Pacman (if the motherfucker decides to play)

How'd YOUR team do??

The Bears had a great draft. I think the two teams that came out exceedingly well were the Ravens and the Steelers.

B-More got a GREAT set of picks (I was worried during the first round). So did Da Bears. Steelers, Honestly, I didn't see much of their picks.

J. Jones is REALLY working up to a SB run this year. I hope to God it pans out.

I think the Chiefs had the best draft. They filled a lot of holes with damn good players.

Ravens did OK, just not sold on Flacco. I would have rather had them stay at #26 and draft a corner, then grab Henne with their 2nd round pick.

That's true...but I think Flacco will do them well. He's a good QB. :-)

I really like Miami taking Jake Long #1. Its very obvious there is a youth movement taking place and he can step in immediately. Hate to see Jason Taylor go but the writing is on the wall. Some team will get a monster with him! Atlanta really sent the message that the Michael Vick era is indeed over completely with Matt Ryan. This is good news for an old Flacons fan who always thought Vick was overrated as hell. Hopefully within 2-3 seasons Miami and Atlanta can both be NFL forces.

The Bears got an "A" for thier draft and nationally the experts are saying they had one of the top drafts.

My only gripe is the Bears need a QB..a big QB with a huge arm. They did sign a guy after the draft. It seems like all Bears QB are fairly small in size. They have not had that great of a QB since McMahon. Given McMahon was not big and did not have a big arm, the guy was smart on the field. Yes, on the field, not off LOL

We will see what happens this season.

Kinda like that with Julius Jones. I would've loved to have seen him stay, but the 'Boys needed some "fresh meat" in ANOTHER Jones named Felix. I think he'll kick ass along side Barber. As I think Jenkins will work along side of Witten. Should be an interesting season.

Pretty much everyone agrees the Pats had the best draft of all the AFC teams.

Matt Walsh is a lying sycophant who is out for money, and New England will be absolved.

The Super Bowl belongs to the Patriots next year, I guarantee it. I'll even put money on it.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

All you need to know about the NFL draft is that guys like Tony Eason and Todd Blackledge were drafted way ahead of Dan Marino! Joe Montana was a third round pick, and Tom Brady was a 6th round pick. Nobody EVER knows who had a good, bad, or ugly draft, until about 5 years after it's over! There are a whole lot of guys who were stud college players who aren't good even enough to play special teams in the NFL!

In many ways it's as if the Cleveland Browns had the best draft this year, even though it wasn't all officially done in the draft.

In many ways it's as if the Browns drafted Brady Quinn in round 1 this year. If Quinn had been in this years draft he would have been the first QB drafted. And the Browns are even more impressed by Quinn's abilities now than they were the day they drafted him, they feel that he will be an even better QB than they had thought on draft day 2007.

It's as if they drafted Cory Williams in round 2. Williams has already begun to prove himself as a potential star D-lineman. And the Browns for the most part already know what they have in him, unlike rookies who have yet to prove themselves in the NFL.

It's as if they got Shawn Rodgers in round 3. Rodgers is a Pro-Bowl D-Lineman who can completely dominate the opponent. And again, he's already proven as a star in the NFL. Williams and Rodgers are proven talents in the NFL, and no player just entering the NFL is guaranteed to be a good or great player.

In round 4 the browns drafted Beau Bell, a linebacker who was one of the top rated players at that position in this years draft. Many draft experts were predicting that he would be drafted in either the second or third round, so he was great value in the fourth round.

Also in round 4, the Browns drafted TE Martin Rucker who was one of the best receiving TE's in this years draft, and who was also expected to be drafted in the third round. So Rucker was also great value in round 4.

In round 6 the Browns drafted NT Ahtyba Rubin who is one of the best pure NT's in this years draft, and who was also expected to be drafted in either round 3 or 4.

Also in round 6 they drafted WR Paul Hubbard who had been expected to be drafted in the 5th round.

And in round 7 they drafted Alex Hall who is considered to be a project player for 2008, and who is considered to have the potential to eventually be a good pass rusher.

So when you count Quinn, Williams and Rodgers into this years draft, I would say that the Browns definitely had the best 2008 draft in the NFL.

If you want to base it strictly on the actual draft, and not with players obtained through trades, then I would say that the Chiefs had the best draft this year.

Joe Flacco was a major reach for the Ratbirds, he has never played against tough competition in college. Ray Rice was a good pickup however.

The Squeelers totally blew it. Yes, Mendenhall and Sweed are very good players, but they failed to address their horrible O-line, and no team will ever go anywhere with that bad of an O-line.
Bruce Davis was a good pickup for them IMO, but many experts didn't feel that he should have gone until round 4, as opposed to where the Squeelers took him in round 3.

Yup, and the Ravens have the NFL-highest number of draft picks since 2002 that are still with the team, something like 48%. They also have the highest number of draft picks since then that are still playing in the NFL, I think 72%.

Nah, not a major reach, Flacco was a 1st round pick. I would have preferred Henne, tho.

I hate the Steelers, but I think they did well. I envision the Steelers and Browns fighting for the division, with the Bengals and Ravens duking it out in the cellar. THIS year.
