No disrespect to our Canadian friends, but I think it's a horrible idea! Canada has the CFL, and let them keep that. The NFL doesn't need to expand to Canada. It's called the "National" Football League, not the International Football League! It's an American sport, and should remain as such. Part of the reason most professional sports leagues suck so much is the endless expansion! Unfotunately, all the league owners are blinded by dollar signs, and never even consider that they might be expanding into an area where people simply don't care, and never will!

Appearing with Jason Jackson on WQAM, Russell said that his sources tell him that the guy who was allegedly shot in the hand after leaving Harrison’s bar last Tuesday had come to the establishment to carry out a gangland-style “hit.”

Russell said during the segment that the issue relates to Harrison’s father, who is (per Russell) incarcerated, and that the supposed “hit” was in retaliation for something Harrison’s father supposedly had done.

Media sources in Philadelphia tell us that the contention, which Russell apparently hasn’t made on the air in his home market, is simply not true.

Russell also said that there are “people who are willing to do whatever is necessary” to keep Harrison from facing charges.

I was floored when I heard this. The guy is quiet on and off the field. I've never so much as heard his name mentioned in an anything but positive light since I moved to the Indianapolis area.

Marvin Harrison is one of the most unassuming, quiet guys I've EVER seen play in the NFL. I've NEVER heard a single bad word said about the man. In a league where it seems like you have to be a complete asshole to play wide receiver (Owens, Johnson, Moss, et. al.), I always found the guy to be a refreshing change. I hope that he's not officially indicted for anything. At that point, I'll have zero faith left in ANY professional athletes! If Marvin Harrison can get himself into trouble, then anyone can!

As if the news of a shooting with his gun last week, an alleged choking with his hands in 2005, and another palms-on-someone-else’s-neck incident in 2003 weren’t enough to justify a conclusion that Colts receiver Marvin Harrison might not be the nice, quiet guy that his on-field demeanor suggests, A.J. Daulerio of Deadspin hints that we might learn a lot more about Harrison, soon.

“According to one prominent national television reporter,” Daulerio writes, “if Harrison gets charged in this case, all of the dirty laundry that many people have been sifting through will be revealed.”

Daulerio also thinks that Wednesday’s conclusions-without-facts rant from WIP’s Howard Eskin could prove to be on the money. “[A]s much as Eskin is a blustery asshole on air at times,” Daulerio writes, “he’s also not reckless and does his due dilligence when it comes to stories of this nature. Also, what Eskin said is consistent with some of the stories being corroborated by a few people close to the investigation.”

Maybe what Daulerio meant to say is that Eskin isn’t reckless anymore. (Getting sued and suspended will do a lot to teach a guy not to make unsubstantiated accusations.)

He’s giving time and money to make the lives of less fortunate people better.

On Tuesday, three more single-parent families received assistance from Dunn in getting into a home of their own. In all, Dunn has helped 77 single-parent households makes down payments on fully-furnished homes.

He does it to honor his late mother, Betty Smothers, who was killed in 1993. “If anyone really knows me, and knows about my life, my mom was my best friend,” Dunn said. “She meant everything to me in this world. To be able to live out her legacy, I’m just really honored.”
