Dude, I saw your thread title and knew just what was coming... Yes, it ROCKS! Saw it on sneak night, and LOVED it! Downey was excellent -- humurous throughout, but serious when the role called for it. The only thing I would like to have seen was a little more red/gold armor action, because he kicked butt on those terrorists. But I know this is only outing one -- there will be much more to come in the sequel.
One thing I get sick of are critics who pan the long length of a film like this -- ok, I totally understand people ripping the first
Hulk for it's ponderous pace, but to jab
Iron Man for being too slow, especially during the building of the Mark I suit, shows their ignorance to me. I didn't find it slow or sluggish in the least, and I think the real problem is this generation's A.D.D. movie-going audience which demands a series of short and sweet visual quick-fixes as opposed to story and character development. Idiots...
And I was just about spot-on -- by the time the bonus scene aired after the final credits, about 93%-94% of the audience had left.
Anyway, back to
Iron Man -- remember that this is the FIRST release by Marvel's film division, and it definitely proves that they know how best to handle their own characters. One can only hope the same for
The Incredible Hulk coming soon. That new trailer aired right before the show, and yes, the new Hulk looks very, very CGI. But I'm sure if you suspend disbelief, the film is going to kick A!
