Perry's private stash?

Postby Blueskies » Mon May 05, 2008 2:17 pm

Just saw this interview for the first time during which Perry says that he was selling a CD containing a "private stash of songs" that he had written at his shows during the FTLOSM tour. I know this must be well known to most of you but I've never heard this and didn't get to any of the shows so, can someone fill me in on what songs were on the CD?

I didn't watch the whole video, but Steve sold two separate CDs at the FTLOSM concerts, about five songs on each one. I believe those songs wound up on the Greatest Hits + 5 CD.

I'm going on memory here, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the info. Two CD's? He only mentions one...but if there were 2 with 5 songs on each one and 5 of those were included on Greatest Hits + 5...then what were the other 5 songs?

( I saw where you said you were drinking tonight so sorry in advance for the question. ) 8)

I don't think he has that "stash" any more.

LOL - let's see if I can remember what they were - there have been so many compilations since 1994 it's hard to remember what the original songs on those short CDs were.... I remember one of them being "What Was" because it blew me away. Forever Right or Wrong (Love's Like a River). A demo of Missing You with a funny screw up at the beginning, Melody - I was floored by that one, If You Need Me, Call Me. I think one had a long version of You Better Wait along with the single version. And I think "It Won't Be You" may have been on one of those.

Those are all I can remember - I'm not at home to check the actual mini CDs. Damn caprioskas are wearing off!

Don't think I've heard a demo with a screw up of Missing You or a longer version of You Better Wait...I'll have to check what I have.
Hopefully someone else will be able to remember what the other songs were...because I don't want to kill off the rest of your buzz!  8)

they were called "maxi CDs" and they were:

Missing You
Melody
What Was
It Won't Be You

You Better Wait
Forever Right Or Wrong (Love's Like A River)
If You Need Me, Call Me
One More Time

IIRC You Better Wait wasn't that different, just the mix. You can hear his breathing a lot more.

If You Need Me Call Me was an updated version (not the one on GH5). It was on the FTLOSM reissue.

It Won't Be You and Forever Right or Wrong are two of my favorite Perry solo tunes.
