My next favourite would be 'Desperate heart'....

Oh, good song as well, as are Stranded, Fool For The Night, Anybody There... 8)

What I especially like about Fire Dance is what the guitar and organ do. I can't find a word for it but it's a combination of soaring, hypnotising and that it carries you away, and at the same time it's a touch melancholic.

AOTW: Testament - The Formation of Damnation

Exactly what you would expect from them, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

My AOTW goes to the new Brother Firetribe "Heart Full of Fire." Perfect 80's-style rockers from start to finish.

If it's anything like The Legacy/The New Order it's not a bad thing at all! I've been wanting to check this out, but last week the record store didn't have it yet. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have better luck!

A bit more in the vein of "The Gathering" when it comes to the vocals, but musically you can hear the old school Testament. So yeah, exactly what you might expect from them.

Yeah, those vocals... I would have liked the title track much better without the growling. Was The Gathering like that everywhere? (Last record I listened to was Practice What You Preach... )

Anyway, I've picked it up, there are a couple of excellent songs on it. Just during the slower songs my attention keeps slipping a bit. Perhaps they need a little more time...
Great production btw. I love the rich guitar sound. That's what basically sold the record for me!

A bit strange perhaps, but it's Elton John - Madman Across The Water. I love the song that was used in Almost Famous and decided today to buy this record. It's beautiful!

That'd be 'Tiny Dancer' - great song. You must get Goodbye Yellow Brick Road if you don't have it already....

Yes, that's the song! I don't have Goodbye Yellow Brick Road yet, just A Single Man and a Best Of. The CD mentioned a couple more classics I wanted to look into, Yellow Brick Road was among them!

Tali, I actually have a Billy Joel record...

GYBR is when Elton was at his best IMHO. There's some classic stuff on it.

My AOTW goes to a video game soundtrack: The Black Mages "Darkness and Starlight"

It's been my more recent obsession, looking for metal reenditions of video game songs. This is the only band readily available, albeit at the stiff Japan import price. I've found other remakes, but most of it is just hit-and-miss internet searching and no artist seems to have a full album out of any kind available outside of Japan. Makes me wish I was born Japanese, where video game soundtracks are readily available.

I'll second that. I like his singing in Leverage better though.

Leverage are so different to Brother Firetribe aren't they? I like both bands but I've listened to Brother Firetribe a lot more. Can't listen to them enough.
I'm really surprised that I'm not sick of them yet, been listening to them so much.

This weeks AOTW is Brother Firetribe - False Metal.
