Arkansas woman pregnant with 18th child

Postby Angiekay » Sat May 10, 2008 1:03 am

I don't know if anyone here has followed this family's story, it's been documented on Discovery Heath quite a bit over the past couple of years. How the hell do these two find time for sex with 17 kids(not to mention a 9 mo old)?! They need a hobby...bowling or something...good gawd.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - It's a happy Mother's Day for an Arkansas woman — she's pregnant with her 18th child.

Michelle Duggar, 41, is due on New Year's Day, and the latest addition will join seven sisters and 10 brothers. There are two sets of twins.

"We've had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us," she said, laughing.

The Duggars' oldest child, Josh, is 20, and the youngest, Jennifer, is nine months old.

The fast-growing family lives in Tontitown in northwest Arkansas in a 7,000-square-foot home. All the children — whose names start with the letter J — are home-schooled.

Duggar has been been pregnant for more than 11 years of her life, and the family is in the process of filming another series for Discovery Health.

The new show looks at life inside the Duggar home, where chores — or "jurisdictions" — are assigned to each child. One episode of the new show involves a "jurisdiction swap," where the boys do chores traditionally assigned to the girls, and vice versa, Duggar said.

"The girls swapped jurisdictions, changing tires, working in the garages, mowing the grass," she said. "The boys got to cook supper from start to finish, clean the bathrooms," among other chores.

Duggar said she's six weeks along and the pregnancy is going well. She and her husband, Jim Bob Duggar, said they'll keep having children as long as God wills it.

"The success in a family is first off, a love for God, and secondly, treating each other like you want to be treated," Jim Bob Duggar said. "Our goal is for each one of our children to be best friends, and everybody working together to serve each other makes that happen."

The other Duggar children, in between Joshua and Jennifer, are Jana, 18; John-David, 18; Jill, 16; Jessa, 15; Jinger, 14; Joseph, 13; Josiah, 11; Joy-Anna, 10; Jeremiah, 9; Jedidiah, 9; Jason, 7; James, 6; Justin, 5; Jackson, 3; and Johannah, 2.

Wow.
Her poor body.
I'm gonna stick with the traditional 3-limit, thanks.

18 kids. Shiza. I guess it's easy deliveries after 10, right?

I think that there are two sets of twins, but yeah, at some point the kids probably started walking right out on their own...

Look at it this way, she'll never need a BOOB job. Although, she might need a breast lift. Those things must be to her knees by now.

Reminds me of the Dane Cook joke where he says he wants 19 kids. His wife's vagina will look like Stargate and kids just materialize out of it ready for school.

Religious beliefs or not, there comes a point where you say, "If you touch me without a condom, you're going to be missing a part or two". She is a fertile Myrtle!

I think this is great. They live debt free, they're happy and they seem to be raising good human beings. God bless them. 8) Here's a bit about them.

You know, I've known of this family for a while and to each their own, but I personally feel there is something wrong with this type of thinking. If something unfortunate happened to one or both of the parents, you have a real mess on your hands. They must be really wealthy, because they have a huge house. Each time I see them and the geeky way they organize and run their family, it's just a huge personal turnoff to me.

As for the religious aspect of it, when my sister first got married about 15 years ago, she said they'd decided not to use any kind of birth control and to let God decide how many kids they should have. I told her, "I can answer that for you -- quite a few. Are you ready?" After the 3rd kid (and she has 3 beautiful daughters), she decided she that being a full-time mom to 3 was taxing her beyond the limits, and got her tubes tied.

My only criticism is that the majority of the parenting duties seems to fall to the kids, more pointedly the daughters. That, and from what I've seen of their specials, they don't seem to be encouraged to have any kind of life outside of their family. What if one of them wants to break away and do their own thing?

I agree, RIP....I tend to think of things in terms of THE LONG HAUL, educations, medical expenses, clothing, food and most importantly QUALITY TIME (the LOVE goes without saying). Would I be able to provide all of these things for each child~EQUALLY? But you are right...what if something awful did happen to the parents??? There is something to really think about!!!

Calm down, Oprah. The kids are being taught responsibility, duty, and team work. I'll go out on a limb and guess that these kids individually turn out better than 90% of their peer group(s).

Omg. Am I the only one who thinks the "same letter" thing is stupid? ESPECIALLY with 18 kids?!?!?!??!?!

We were *this* close to that in my family... with the girls we have Ks and Cs but they're all the same "K" sound.
I tell people my sisters' names and they go "oh, your family is one of those."

I agree. I knew a girl in college who was number 9 of 13 kids. The last two born were twins. They were a great family. The older ones helped with the younger ones and they were very close. Their kids were better behaved and turned out better than many families I knew with 2 or 3 kids. I really don't think it's a negative if they are raised with love and responsibilty. It's the big families who didn't PLAN on having big families that may have more problems.

Well, they're almost out of Js, so maybe #18 will be Jordan. They can land on "Jeddidiah" but they bypassed names like Jordan, Jonathan, Jaime and Jesse?   I can't imagine how many names they have to yell before the get the right one. "Jam... Jas... Jo... Ji... I mean... you, over there... yeah you, c'mere."

My mom still can't get it right and she only has two.
And my grandma spent years calling me Karen.

18? My God. Someone tell the lady that it's a vagina, not a clown car.
