Going for the Perry Note

Ok, first try at starting a thread other than saying hello. Bare with me cuz this could go horribly wrong.

Do you ever listen to songs and hear a vocalist who who has clearly been influenced by Steve Perry or perhaps is trying one of those little runs that he does (did). I don't mean the guys who are obvious about it (Chalfant, Hugo etc) but the ones that just throw a phrase in now and then.

Now this is where it will probably go wrong, but i'm hoping that below is a link to a track that will demonstrates what I mean. If this doesn't work I need someone to tell me how to upload files.

Now, what you have to imagine is the discussion between the band and the singer when they were recording the song. The guitarist and keyboard player say to the singer "in the chorus can you do that thing Steve Perry does when he voice soars up and up"

They try it a few times and its not quite working. Time for drastic measures. The roadie has a set of pliers in his tool box and attaches them loosely to the singers scrotum. When the chorus comes he tightens them a quarter turn, then another and another, off a quarter turn and then off completely. There you have it, a credible Steve Perry vocal run when the singer has no right to be able to sing that high.

I was spoiled as a child. If people don't play with me when I want, i throw my toys out the pram.

I'm Not the Only One by Atlanta Rhythm Section has just come on from my random I Tunes. I'm relaxed now. Which was followed by You Don't Care by Stonebolt. Nice.

Duncan....no one will be able to get this as an m4p. When I downloaded it I was requested for your password to play it in iTunes..also shows your email addy...so you'll have to convert it to mp3 to give it out to the masses. 8)

Make a playlist and put what you want in it....put in a recordable cd and burn the playlist to disk...then remove the cd ..put it back in and reload the tunes back into iTunes....might ask you if you want to replace..say yes....they will now be mp3's....then load them onto yousendit or someplace else that you prefer to use...get the link and post it. 8)

I have been reading Deano posts for years. I happen to think he has a good taste in music (and i'm only here to talk music and have some fun) albeit somewhat narrow. i'm sure when he comes back he will call me a euro fag with bad teeth. I don't take myself seriously - it's fine.

OK, I'm having trouble focusing on the keyboard but i'll give it my best shot. That's Freedom - John Farnham just come on. Bet Andrew likes that one.

m4p is to try to prevent sharing music that has been recorded for purchase....so, if what you want to post is and is not a bootleg or out of print then you can't post it and give it out ...but if it's something not for sale anywhere you can....at least thats my understanding of it....anyway, have fun and try to focus   8)

The track is available on i-Tunes so it would be wrong to upload it. Sorry everyone, as you can see i don't know what i'm doing. if anyone wants to hear the song it's by a band called After Hours and is called The Game. it's on their album Take Off. It's great 80's style aor song, and despite what i said before the singer is really good.

Anyways after a less than auspicious start to my MR posting I'm off to bed to think about what has happened here tonight.

Good Night
