BG Vox Question

Postby Red13JoePa » Sat May 10, 2008 1:03 am

...for Joe Vana or anyone else who might know.

Joe Vana, I know that in covering some of the Vital Signs songs you often do "the Mickey Thomas" parts.

I know I hear him on the harmony/bridge in "I See You In Everyone"...what other parts does he have on that record, as I think I hear some very high Thomaseque bg vox on ICHB and First Night at least. Sounds like Thomas and Sullivan together....

What songs did Cronin and Shaw sing parts on as well in CITHG, VS and WSC?

Slander....the song....listen to the backgrounds....it's a Cronin fest!!!!

Vital Signs has alot of Mickey....I Can't Hold Back is a great example...there is an awesome two part harmony in the pre choruses with JJ and Mickey....I did the Mickey parts Live with JP and Kevin Chalfant did the leads....Mickey's great talent (among others) is that he was a pure tenor.....he could hold the note cleanly without the grit.....made for a great background guy....it is why I got calls for the same kind of thing, I only wish I had more grit.....

Any others you must ask that "Saint Dick" or whatever his name is....I guess he is an expert...I only sang with them....

Survivor always had excellent background vocals....pretty basic in it's approach but preformed VERY well....JP is a GREAT background singer as he makes a wonderful base to build on....always in the pocket and it's easy to fly above him and make a great blend.....FS is the high flyer and again has great time and pitch.....

I always thought I could strongly hear Peterik in the backing vocals on Slander. I always figured that the deeper and gritier backing vocal on that track was Peterik.

I've always felt that Peterik's backing vocals worked a little bit better with Bickler's vocals than Sullivan's did. And that Sullivan's worked a little bit better with Jamison's vocals. I'm referring to when their voices are blended together on the tracks.

Joe, how much backing vocals did Tom Kelly do with Survivor?
