Mike Emerick (NBC/Versus) never sounds like he is rooting, and he is an announcer for the NJ Devils.
Just sayin....
You couldn't be further removed from the truth. Cole is a die hard Maple Leaf supporter through and through. Always has been (he works almost exclusively on Leafs games for the CBC). The pro-Leafs CBC prides itself on hating the Habs, the province of Quebec, and French Canadians in general. For example, they'll show Leafs' early (7 pm est) games Saturday on Hockey Night In Canada well over 50% of the time when they have the option to show Habs or Sens games as well, EVEN ON the Montreal TV affiliate where the game should not be blacked-out because the Habs sell out every game.
Delayed reaction, eh?
Well, if you listened to the broadcast from that night, you could hear the heightened excitement when Montreal scored and the utter disappointment in his voice when the Flyers scored. It was so obvious.
I don’t know, nor do I care what his affiliation is. He needs to retire.
??????
Did you even watch the game on the CBC?
It was just the opposite...even the morning DJs on Montreal's sports radio network (TEAM 990) have a ongoing inside joke about the happy tone in Cole's voice on several occasions when calling Philly's goals.
"Some Anglos in Quebec say they're choosing RDS over the CBC's English coverage, and many believe the public broadcaster should stick to what it knows best - Toronto.
"The announcers are better, they're not as biased and they don't care who's winning - they tell it as it is," Pat Wychocki said of RDS, which broadcasts every Canadiens game to 2.1 million subscribers in Quebec...
He said the CBC team doesn't have the same inside knowledge of the Habs, especially veteran broadcaster Bob Cole."

I'm not here to bash the Flyers. I think they've done an extremely good job after making the long overdue move of shit-canning Bobby Clarke. That the organization has a bright future in such a short time (worst to one of the top-2 teams in the East) is astonishing to me.
