I'd rather have a Tesla, which is basically an electric version of the Lotus Elise:

My brother-in-law had a Honda all through college that he NEVER changed the oil in, & that damn thing still ran just fine, lol.

I've never really thought about this, but when I got my Toyota MR-2 Spyder and RAV-4, I was told by the dealership that the engines for both were designed to only need oil changes every 7,000 miles, but that they still recommended every 5,000 to be safe -- and I took them there for quite a while to get that done every 5,000 miles. I thought there was something special about the Toyotas... haha! I currently do every 3,000 in my Eclipse, and every 5,000 in the RAV-4. Maybe I should go longer... Yeah, I've been under the impression that changing the oil more frequently puts much less wear/tear on the engine. No surprise if this is a bill of goods they've sold us...
Thanks for the info, Fact Finder!

But really, how much does an oil change cost? $25? $30? I'm not willing to risk it for a few bucks.

Gas is $3.95/gallon here in central Indiana today. Highest I've ever seen it. Glad I got it for $3.70 yesterday.
Moo-Wah-Hahahaha Sir.....I didn't say we don't suffer from it, just that it ain't on
my list of lunks.
Hubby briefs me daily.....$1.28 a litre here.
If I do my calculations correctly, that equates to about $4.85/gallon.
