Just because Plant has been "borrowed from" doesn't make him better than the borrower...just first.
Plant also borrowed from singers before him. I've heard him say as much in interviews. Happens in every genre of music and with every type of musical instrument, including the human voice.

I agree with this. If Robert Plant and David Coverdale were both in their early 20's today, and made new music as solo artists, having never heard of them before, listened to side by side, Coverdale has the better singing voice. He was born with better chords.
That being said, give me Zep over Whitesnake any day.

Maverick is right I think. Plant can sing anything. So can Coverdale, but he's not on the same level and nobody remembers anything he's sang where he wasn't screaming.
