Didn't Neal say in his interview that After All These Years was already charting and NWA was had the most radio station adds of any song during the first week May?

I suspect that AATY will make a lot of noise on the AC Top 40 chart, and NWA will get some, but not a lot, of airplay. I like both songs. I just have reservations about the production of NWA. Sounded "flat" on the radio. Sounded great live, though.

I haven't heard anything on radio, but I'm only listening to O&A or Ron and Fez on XM. We played NWA at Frontiers practice Monday night & it's a killer "live" song. Can't wait to break this one out next month in Charlotte.

Frontiers won't be playing this live until after the release date!

Outside of this board and the links within, I have not heard one ounce of Journey talk or Journey music.

Neither have I. Crickets here in Philly (no smart-ass Flyers comments either).

Little Rock radio, The Point 94.1, has played NWA a few times.
Don't know what feedback they've had.

I love this song. Only have heard it twice on the radio, once on my move to the city at 2am in March, and again about a week and a half ago slow dancing with my friend at like 5am. Love, love, love it. So cinematic.

Sorry to be a killjoy, but guys, lets be realistic. Of course the songs aren't making much noise. Even though the Eagles walmart album sold well, I didn't hear a single song get any radio coverage in southern california, did you? (then again, I don't listen to country stations)

Even still, Revelation will probably follow a similar track. Decent to strong sell through in walmart but little to no radio play. This isn't the 80's and this kind of music isn't the main stream anymore. The songs will chart a bit with some airplay here and there but doubtful they'll chart any better than the releases off Arrival.

The dark horse event that could reverse that, however, is the band's upcoming appearance on the Ellen Degeneress show. That might make a difference, but not a top 10 hit difference.

I agree, and I don't think Journey is banking on the songs getting big radio airplay. The deal with Wal-Mart is going to do more good (as far as the success of Revelation is concerned) than having a radio hit would do. More people will pick up the album after being in Wal-Mart than would pick up the album after hearing a single on the radio.

With that being said, I'm sure they wouldn't be disappointed if Never Walk Away or After All These Years charted big.

Well, I said I didn't listen to the country stations, lol... The Eagles in their heyday had airplay on mainstream stations as well. Not this time around, although from what I heard, their album wasn't in their old 70's crossover style, but leaned more country than ever.

Does anyone who cares about music actually listen to the radio anymore?

Clear Channel won't let their stations (which is almost every station in the US) play new music from classic rock acts, so radio play for this album is kind of a nonstarter. The best they can hope to achieve is to get the album to the ears of their dedicated fanbase and hope they like it.

Yes because some of us don't have CD players in our cars because we had to trade down b/c of gas and an old POS was the only option other than buying something else. And when that wasn't bad enough, some of us lost our iPods somewhere between McCarran International and the Planet Hollywood in Vegas. Erego, radio. And radio is still good, it's just not what it used to be.

Here's the thing. Journey, by most critics & industry people, is considered shallow, empty "corporate rock". Now, we all know better, but for the most part, The Eagles have critical cred, Journey does not.

No matter how many records they sold, no matter how many stadiums they played in their day...it doesn't matter. They will always be lumped in with bands like REO, Foreigner, Loverboy, etc as corporate, sell-out Rock.

The Eagles, Neil Young, CSN, Elvis Costello, REM, Madonna...they all have critical cred for thier music & accomplishments. So, by default, The Eagles releasing new music is a big deal because they're THE EAGLES...Journey is considered watered-down, washed up 80s music.

Nirvana will be in the R&RHoF before Journey, KISS or Toto will...and they're still 8 years away from eligibility...

Were they on Ellen?

I know they were on DWTS and Jimmy Kimmel. SFTSL did debut at #5.

Journey would be in the R&R HOF in about 16 seconds if demo boy ever came back. That's the only reason they're not in yet.

Well, that certainly explains Van Halen then, huh?

Has absolutely nothing to do with it. The guys who run the HOF are elitists. Journey never caught establishment respect on any level, even "after all these years".

If nothing else, all the little jabs and backhanded compliments in that GQ article should highlight this fact. The HOF guys see Journey the same way that article writer did. THAT'S why they're not now, nor will they ever, be in the HOF. Unfair? Sure, but that's reality and it has nothing to do with "demo boy" you jaded mo-fo.

PS: xanax? effexor?
