Best Albums So Far This Year?

Postby ProgRocker53 » Sun May 18, 2008 8:00 am

What do you think are the best 2008 albums so far?

Ranking only the ones I've listened to, of course (I need to catch up on "newer" tunes):

1. Steve Lukather- Ever Changing Times
2. Def Leppard- Songs from the Sparkle Lounge
3. Panic at the Disco- Pretty. Odd.
4. Whitesnake- Good To Be Bad
5. Asia- Phoenix

Note that I do enjoy all of the above albums.. I think Whitesnake's new one is fantastic and Asia's is decent.

Couldn't be worse than the Peter Criss album of 2007!!

I left out Whitesnake too.

Too old...missed that one due to too much work last year. Solid if not unoriginal.

Exactly. It sounds like Don phoned them in from Fiji! No energy at all.

Asia - Phoenix in a landslide. This record is incredible - like a mash-up between vintage Alan Parsons Project and classic Asia pomp. No other record I've heard so far this year touches it and it gets better with every listen. Tom Petty's Mudcrutch CD is a close second for me. Haven't heard many MR releases so far this year. I'm still waiting on Sparkle Lounge to arrive. Anyone know if Ever Changing Times is coming to iTunes any time in this life?

All good albums, the Lep album is amazing. But,I think the best ones this year are still to come:

Journey-Revelation
Alice Cooper-Along came a Spider- this is by all accounts said to be fantastic
Motley crue - Saints of LA
The new Jeff Scott Soto, the new Harem Scarem, and the new Tyketto will also be pretty damn good I think!!!
