I'm a sucker for remasters so...

Most recent was Genesis' Invisible Touch (their masterpiece, IMO) 2007 remaster/reissue.

Their masterpiece?

I discovered their early stuff a few years ago and "Invisible Touch" now seems like schlock compared to albums like "Selling England By the Pound", "Foxtrot", "Wind & Wuthering", etc.

All brutal to me, especially the Gabriel era ones.

Wind & Wuthering? Listen to All In A Mouse's Night, try to stifle gales of laughter through the lyrics and then tell me that's better than ANYthing on Invisible Touch.

Agreed! "Trick of the Tail" is one of the ten best albums of the 70's. Pure genius, beginning to end.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Yes!...IMO "Trick" is their best album...I also really enjoy listening to "Three Sides Live", which I have bought at least three times. Others I have lost or ruined and rebought include The Cars "Candy-O", Def Lep's "High & Dry", Smithereens "Especially For You", Judas Priest "Screaming for Vengeance", & Journey "Escape".

I don't have a problem with the lyrics. Nothing wrong with exploring different territory. Anyway, musically-speaking, early Genesis uses the commercial Genesis era as toilet paper.
