Ok. let me set the scene here.

Boy Inside The Man (Tom Cochrane & Red Rider, album "The Symphony Sessions" Live) 4 minute song is turned into a 10 minute singalong anthem.

This song however...is deep on so many levels and means the world to me. But it means the world to someone else too. A Canadian father lost his son in a car crash in the late 80s. The boy was on the verge of playing Major League Ice Hockey and was a huge TC fan and the father went to his sons record collection and found the song Boy Inside The Man.

He later sought out Tom at a concert when he came to town for a show. He tells TC how much the song meant to his son, what happened and how the song helped the father survive that time after hsi son's death and thanks TC for the song.
TC was so utterly blown away he talked more to the father, learnt all about the boy's life and then wrote another song about that - Big League.

Here's both songs - Symphony style.

and

http://www.melodicrock.com/audio/BigLeague.mp3

And after that...I must go and have a break...too much...

But great music.....great great music.

I wouldn't mind having a Mac, they're damn good computers with a hugely superb OS, but I just can't justify the price when they won't do what I want them to. ;)

As far as songs that "saved me" or got me out of some serious
funks and lows in my life...
Wise Up - Aimee Mann

Crash - DMB

The ENTIRE Pictures at an Exhibition album - ELP (helped me 'escape' in my mind while in Jr High...)

Sober - Clarkson (helped inspire a dear friend to keep fighting for his own sobriety)

This is the Life - Living Colour

Monopoly - Shawn Colvin

Snow in April - Prince

Right off the top of my head, the songs that have really meant a lot to mean in the last 2 years (with the divorce, etc.) have been "Signs of Life", "To Be Alive Again", "Rubicon", and "Edge of the Blade". Also, as sappy and old as it is "I am Woman" by Helen Reddy. :)

"The Show Goes On" by Bruce Hornsby.
"Why Should I Cry For You" by Sting.
"Goodbye" by Night Ranger.

When I'm down, anyway.

But now that everything is looking up, I've been listening to "I'm Alive" by my boy Kelly Keagy quite often.

This has to be the greatest song released by ANYONE in the past 15 years:

But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

A lot of it is just way to personal to write on a public forum..but I will give you tid bits that I feel comfortable with as I think of them..such as this one with a twist..the person who gave me that album..is one of the person's that album helped me to mentally escape from..

Great topic because I believe this is what music is all about..that album is most likely too the first record I even owned..and it tought me how powerful music can be if you get it.

I was able to spend a lot of alone time with DDY later and tell him what that album did for me..Tommy Shaw too..but not as much as Dennis.

Every time I hear the beginning notes of this song it makes me think of my grandparents still walking hand in hand in their 70's before they both passed away and I can also remmber my parents humming to it as they shot pool in the basement with friends. It's really a song that any generation can listen to.

After the end of a 28 year marriage; I thought I would never feel comfortable about being with someone again. Anyway, I heard this song and kinda of used it as a standard for the future, it really kept me going when I was down. The cool thing is that a couple of years and relationships later, I met someone who I actually feel this way with. OK now Im feelin kinda stupid, but its great :D

I feel all teary-eyed, guys.

I can't say that this song saved me, but it has personal meaning...this was the only video on youtube I could find of it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=trvtMSoW7dM

Also, "Too Late and "Someday Soon" influenced me when they first came out...heck, that's one of the reasons I love Journey...hopeful. The first time I heard SP's voice on "Lights" I felt connected...too bad I broke that connection, but thank god it found me again a few years ago. The weird thing is that I can't listen to most music that I love when I am going through a really rough patch...it sinks me.

And after that...I must go and have a break...too much...

But great music.....great great music.

For some reason it says "IE can't display the webpage"? That might just be my computer though. Thanks Andrew.......and for the info, I had NO idea that's how Big League came about!

Just "Right Click" and save to your computer
GREAT tracks!

What if you have a mac?

Get a pc. Bwahahahahaha!  Image Image

awwww...I have both.....

Ahem, I have a Mac and if you put your cursor over the link and press the ctrl button, you should be able to save it. It's the Mac version of "right click", at least on a lap top.....

Wow - my selections are so different.

We've been married 29 years now, but back in 1992, we were so close to a divorce it was only two more months until it was final.

Two albums saved my sanity. One was the entire "Out of the Cradle" album by Lindsey Buckingham.

The other, out about the same time was "The Earth, A Small Man, His Dog and a Chicken" by REO Speedwagon (weird title, I know), specifically "My Love Is A Rock".

I could NOT listen to Journey for an entire year.

Maybe not as serious as other people problems on here, but when me and my first serious girlfriend broke up, What Was by Steve Perry really helped me

I still get a wierd feeling now when I hear it.

"Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" helped me through a horrible break-up with ease, and is also how I got into Journey.

Rush's song "The Pass" has literally saved me a few times, same with Porcupine Tree's "The Rest Will Flow."

HUGE, HUGE credit goes to Marillion to keeping me going... if it wasn't for Misplaced Childhood, I don't know where I'd be right now..

Triumph's "Never Surrender" and "Fight the Good Fight" were both very inspirational to me. Oddly, rock in general helped preserve my sanity over the years, many, many times. Sometimes it was Journey, sometimes Black Sabbath, depended on the mood and what I "needed".
