Very true, like the FT.Worth show which had at most 75 peeps. Very humbling for Jeff. I've heard other shows had similar numbers. They should have pimped the hell out of that tour.

I do agree that if JSS is going to "make it" the time is now, it's time for better management, better decision making on his solo career, etc. Time to market "Jeff Scott Soto" and not the JSS flavor of the month bands he shows up in.

I agree that was an interesting statement and my take on it was that, knowing there are some of us who will buy it just because it is JSS didn't mean he was going to do anything less than perfection on it. He could pretty much throw out anything and some of us (raising hand here! ) would automatically buy it.

Now that's coming from a major JSS fan, so I probably spinning it the way I want to see it.

I read the interview and I believe that JSS is wrong about one thing. He did gain some fans after his stint with Journey. I am SO looking forward to his next release while I am anticipating Journey's release with a yawn.

While some may say that the release of JSS was handled properly from a business point of view, from a human point of view, it sucked rocks. Neal Schon might be a world class guitarist. But there is no doubt whatsoever that he is the current standard bearer for corporate dickheads. The way that he and the band handled JSS dimissal was pathetic and proof positive that Journey is no longer about being a band. It is about bringing in the bucks. The Journey sycophants can have them. While I might pick up the new cd, I have paid my last concert dollar to hear the same old set list and line the pockets of Schon & Cain and company.

Sure, he gained some fans, but if a band as big as Journey (or virtually 99% of those that don't have massive radio airplay of new material) can't even get people excited about new material, it's highly unlikely that most of those would even remember the name of a singer who they saw for one show long enough to buy a cd--which he didn't even sing on, so they support Augeri instead--or think Perry is REALLY good now. The majority of impressions probably would have been on the live performance side, and he is regulated to "that guy who was singing for Journey last time". Take a wider view at the grand scheme of things here. If you add up the number of people that were impressed enough to find out who he was AND be interested in finding out what he has done AND be willing to see him when he tours....AND spread that out over the entire country, you end up with maybe 5 people/show. So his touring attendance increases from 75 to 80 people. That's why in the long run, it was nothing.

Granted, in Europe/UK where there is some amount of name recognition, it may have been more beneficial to him. In the US however, it was some nice memories and a nice paycheck on a dead-end street. His best chance of anything positive career-wise coming from that was other musicians who saw the tour who may not have heard of him before. As far as a fanbase goes, it was basically nothing in the long run.

Yes, in any and all interviews w/outside sources, he's been
mum and kind on the subject.

Behshad recently recapped events starting on June 12 of last year...
I have a PM I saved, and will not ever divulge, from Jeff from June 13
and he pretty much layed it all out there. Not too much info, but let me
know he got the word, it had been known by many for days, was informed
by management and asked to walk away "quietly". No exclaimations
on exactly why...

So yes, he did open up to a few of his friends here but never in outside press.
So that is why it is bitter for some of us.
Some of us considered Jeff as more than just a Rockstar...
He is our friend and loyalty is a prescious thing, don't you think?

But we have all moved on, I am axniously awaiting Jeff's new release
and I am also pretty excited about Journey's next chapter.

Then we have Journey who release a professional press release and basically said it was amicable and wished him the best of luck. They've basically repeated that in subsequent interviews as well. So most of the public do not know and care what really went down and think everything is cool.

I only started to view the message board with regularity, since the alleged tapegate and when Saint John became a regular poster. Therefore, I know the about the events of really the last two years. No one had to educate me on anything. I just didn't post until last week. If you also look, I have posted in several artist threads, not just this one. The majority have been in the Journey thread but so are the vast majority of the postings on this board.
