"State of Grace" and "Escape" are two of Journey's greatest songs..

Here's a 7 minute version of a song that wipes the floor with Escape and SOG...Neal slays this fucking song, junior. Pay special attention starting around the 3:11 mark. 8)

And I hope they never do. That song is too long, too boring and way too gay. Seems like 2 (shitty) songs meshed into one.

It's their best fucking song.

Maybe to you, but no one in terms of the masses miss it. It's boring, has gay keyboards, and takes too long to get going. Waaay too long as well. I'd rather hear Deen sing Mother Father, After The Fall, or the 12 Days Of Christmas.
Oh dear dear St. John you are freaking everywhere... every thread I read you're there  So tell me do you have life after Journey? Now I wonder what is MR forum without you...we need more people like you in here...very very dedicated indeed

SA said in an interview somewhere that Escape was the hardest song in the Journey catalog to sing. Arnel did fine on it in Vegas, I thought.

I believe I do remember that. Tito...do you remember this. We've gone to a lot of Journey shows over the last 10 years together or as part of a larger group. :) For the record, SOG is a shitty song.

They did open with State of Grace in '02.

I dunno, I think they'll surprise us! The reason I imagined them opening and closing with their new songs is because for the first time in awhile they are promoting and pushing their new material (Hold your opinions about how "NEW" Never Walk Away sounds). They performed and are going to air After All These Years on Ellen, and they have been getting radioplay (At least around Cleveland). It seems to me they are finally doing things right in regards to promoting a new album so why not open and close with new tunes to push them to the fans. I mean who's going to go to the bathroom right at the start of the show, or the end for that matter :) Just my opinion

You know what, then?
Roll it out there every 4th show.

It's singing songs like that damn near every show (and Escape is a COMPLETELY superflous album cut, NOT a DD member) that had poor Augeri by 2005 going "ST___(silence). SSSSTTTTO____(silence)" trying to do the ending Stone In Love vocal acrobatics.

"I love almost everybody."---Rocky Balboa 1990
"Let's reform this thing.Let's go out and get some guys who want to work and go do it"--Neal Schon February, 2001

Yeah, but you need beer songs. They don't do drum solos anymore.

although, im not a fan of ROR or TBF, when SA first joined the band they did a couple of TBF songs live and they were good, would love to hear any one of the following, walks like a lady, where were you, line of fire, dixie highway, partys over. i really dont like seeing a band with so many good songs slaging out the same 12 every night/year/tour.
and opening with a good kick ass song is a great ideal, the fans are already pumped

My Current Dream Setlist

Postby youkeepmewaiting » Thu Jun 12, 2008 5:45 am

My current setlist for when they come to the UK in a couple of weeks would be this;

Ballad

"Like A Sunshower"
"After All These Years"
"Turn Down The World Tonight"
"Faithfully"
"Why Cant This Night"

Light

"What I Needed"
"Still She Cries"
"Still They Ride"
"Walkin Away From The Edge"

Mid/Rock

"Never Walk Away"
"Change For The Better"
"Faith In The Heartland"
"What It Takes To Win"
"Where Did I Lose Your Love"
"Remember Me"
"Mother Father"
"After The Fall"
"To Be Alive Again"
"Message Of Love"
"Be Good To Yourself"
"Seperate Ways"
"Partys Over"
"If He Should Break Your Heart"
"Edge Of A Blade"

Obvisouly this would never happen. I've included nearly all the new album and left off STL, OA, DSB etc etc.
