I've thought the same thing. 9 + minutes is damn long. Maybe Neal added more solo work into it along with Caine's flawless piano work?

CD sounds great... I would rather have just had the Augeri FITH remastered so it didn't sound like a tin can, but oh well. I'm going to get a hair cut and see if Walmart stocked it here accidentally

The end of 'Revelation' sounds reversed...like they took the last so-many seconds of the guitar track laid it down backwards.

I'll probably buy it, but not immediately. With repeated listens I might change some of the average and good songs around, but I do not like Sunshower at all.

The CD is a lot stronger than I thought it would be, but re-recording FITH instead of adding another NEW song still bothers me a lot.

Apparently redoing FITH was KS's idea. He loved the song, but thought it could be better. JC talks about it on the Rockline interview.

I just played it through on the player, and it said about 6:18. Actually shorter than the original a little bit. They cut out some of the intro right before Neal enters. It's not a 9-minute version.

In 'After All These Years', the words 'gypsy highway' should have been 'dixie highway'.
'Turn Down the World Tonight' has a very chilling melancholy feel to it. It could be the sleeper of the album.

I think Shirley & crew did a great job with this. Still wish the individual drums sounded better though. Oh well, DC's playing & singing make up for that.

Honestly, this album is so much better than I thought it would be. And I'm really diggin' the fact that I hear more Augeri & Jamison than I do Perry. This guy Pineda actually has a definite sound of his own. That's a pleasant surprise.

Schon's guitar still gets amazingly better all the time. Wow...just f'ing wow!

You're damn right. That solo on Change For The Better blows my mind. It's not just totally shredding as fast as he can play. It's got some killer "melody" to it.

The original was right around seven minutes. I thought the new version seemed a bit shorter.

That's fine, I just wish they didn't. I think the Augeri version is so much better and Arnel's version just sounds off to me. Arnel holds notes longer in certain places and it throws me off.

I'm on my third listen through and Turn Down The World really gives me a distinct Jim Peterik/Survivor epic ballad feel... anyone else get this? This definitely sounds like it coulda been on one of the recent Pride of Lions records... great song.

About the only thing worth skipping over on the entire album... it's just not as frantic as the original one and I'm just too used to the Augeri vocals. If this woulda been the first version I'd heard I'd say it was a good song, but I'm too partial towards the Augeri version.

I'm about to jam it in my car now! Also going to sneak up to Wal Mart and bug the heck out of them about it. I can be very persuasive when I want to be... LOL! The response I'm predicting is the usual, "We don't actually have it here, yet -- they will arrive the night before." But maybe I can get lucky!

Well, sad to report I didn't have any luck --- talked to two employees, and the first girl told me it was possible it was in the back, but that it's a $10,000 fine if they get caught selling it early. I did however find a copy of Steve Perry: Greatest Hits in a Digipak for $6.88 and scooped it up! I know it's been around for a while, but it had some demos and a bonus track and makes a nice little addition to my collection.

So then another employee saw me with that disc and commented how much he liked Steve Perry, and so I hit him up for Revelation as well -- he said it was possible they might not even have it on the 3rd (which is exactly what happened with the new Loverboy disc -- I had to go to 4 Wal Marts to find it.

But now I'm encouraged that someone saw a copy somewhere, and will start calling around... haha! I may get lucky!

oh, gee I better stop listening and wait until Tues. cuz ya know I'm not lovin' it as much as I thought I would from hearing the short clips. I like part of Sunshower and then the end makes me cringe...gads, I dislike tacked on "yeah" at the end of songs...it's like when you hear announcers say, "and there you have it" cuz they can't think of anything else to say. I like parts of "What I needed" and then it loses me cuz it feels like it is jerry-rigged...not as cohesive. I was really getting excited about this new music and now I'm feeling some disappointment...oh, well I still love "After all these Years" that one gives me goosebumps.
And, yes Arnel sounds a lot like Augeri on the beginning of Sunshower...true about the ghosts of singers past.

This version of "Faith In The Heartland" is interesting, but not as good as the original. And all Neal's great feedback in the last section of the original is kinda replaced or at least overshadowed by new keys by Jon. Interesting, but really still prefer the original. Only gave it 1 spin thru so far and about to listen to the whole disc again.
