KISSOLOGY 3 Reviews - What do you think?

Postby ConcertCato » Mon Dec 24, 2007 11:31 am

I think this is a great box set over all :) , but the Detroit Tiger Stadium Reunion show edit blows chunks :x . The long periods of black between songs really kills the mood. Also, all the tight shots.
I've read an explanation of the edits on Kiss Asylum.com, but it still doesn't ease my disappointment.
I bought the Best Buy bonus disc version it's good even with out R-N-R-A-N.
I was wondering what the MSG New York reunion show edit was like?

I like the KISSOLOGY 3 set alot. The MTV unplugged footage is great. Having seen the original version + the CD of the show it is nice to see the complete concert.

The added disc from one of their earliest recorded shows at the Coventry in NYC is good. All though the sound and B&W footage are rough it is great to see their determination and power 'before' they ruled the world in the 70's and beyond.

I have all three of the Kissology DVD series and I like them all. I was disappointed, though at Gene and Paul's constant bashing of Ace and Peter in the commentary section. Gene's comment that the reunion tour and everything after that was "pure torture" is amusing. I guess he was crying all the way to the bank. I get it that Peter is not the best drummer and Ace had his limitations, but seriously, where was KISS going anyway in 1995? Nowhere! The Revenge tour was a flop, the KISS conventions were for a limited audience and the last CD they worked on with Bruce and Eric (Carnival of Souls) blew. To keep KISS going, Gene and Paul basically had no choice but to put the original 4 back together. Gene ought to be thanking Ace and Peter for the many millions they helped lined his pockets with. After watching this, I doubt I can ever watch "The Second Coming" video without laughing. What a farce!

I think most KISS fans knew all along that $immon$ is out for one thing. However, we continue to buy all the new stuff. This will probably be it for me.

I think this is the best of the 3 DVD, most likely because of the sound quality. Kissology 1 would have been terrific but I was disappointed by the sound.

What I have found in watching 3 is that it's given me a reason to be more interested in both Revenge (a pretty solid album) and Carnival of Souls (Master & Slave is a great track) and much more appreciative of Bruce and Eric as musicians. Disc 1 shows that they were a pretty tight band around 92, in terms of playing and the unplugged concert is almost worth the purchase alone.

You could not have said it better! Gene complains that Ace is a drunk yet was happy to employ this drunk for the reunion tour which put the band on the map,you employs screw ups then complain they screw up????
Gene lost my respect after he became a ignorant arse with no regard for anything other than his pocket, this happened after as soon as he made money on the reunion tour,he does not have to try anymore...money corrupts as much as drugs.
At least Ace is playing and writing new material,Kiss dont write they live of the images and memories of the past,if only Ace had not sold the rights to his makeup they would be fucked now 8)

Agree with everyone about the Ace and Peter bashing. It got old and was the thing I remember most about Volume 3. Personally, I like Volume 2 the best. Maybe because I haven't seen a lot of the footage and I liked that era.

Kissology 1 sucks. Nothing there but TV clips, etc. Most of these clips have been in circulation in similar compilations on Ebay for decades. I imagine that, except for the bonus concert disc, the second and third installments of Kissology aren't much better.
