I got off work at 6am and drove my tired ass over to Wallyworld to snag up my Journey CD. I walked down the rack and found the CD spacer advertising the CD's release as June 3rd, but no CD's. I checked through the rows next to it and still nothing. There was a Wally Worker wandering around aimlessly in the isle so I asked her where the CD was. She looked kind of puzzled and said she didn't know. Then asked "is it a DVD?" I reponded that it wasn't and pointed to the spacer thing. She still looked puzzled. Then she tried to tell me that the CD's didn't come in yet and she didn't know if they'd be getting any. I showed her the spacer for the CD and told her that it't advertised RIGHT HERE!!! She walked away with no expression at all. Kind of like she was in a trance, or on some pretty heavy meds. I was pissed and turned around to leave and noticed one of their big carts at the end of the isle. I then motioned to her and asked her if it was possibly in the boxes on the cart and she told me NO again. So I took it upon myself to go to the cart, and right next to her, pull out the fucking CD, right from the top box, that was opened, and that she was counting or something. I told her "This is the one you said wasn't here". I started walking away and she got all mad and said that "We can't sell it yet!!! You can't do that" I looked at my watch and informed her that it was June 3rd and the release date that they had advertised was June 3rd, so I'm going to pay for it at the front counter. The fucking tool stood there looking puzzled again and went back to what she was doing.... Morons...

I now have my cd set home safe and sound

I had the exact same experience, only without the happy ending (insert massage joke here). The store didn't have the CD, but the person who "helped" me, didn't have an educated answer. She didn't even look into it. Just spoke speculatively off the top of her head.

I ventured back to the big Wal-Mart in EAST SAN JOSE this morning before I went to work. I was actually impressed with the friendly greeter and the organization of the store. All the Journey CDs were nicely displayed and there were plenty of them. The cashiers were friendly and polite. Not at all what I expected from Wal-Mart, let alone in that part of town!

Is it any wonder why rock is dying, all the kids listen to is throwaway music. You would think with the huge promotional push they have had on this release they would make sure it was on the shelves. Hell when the Eagles (Crummy) new CD was released they had them every 3 inches all over the store. Would love to see this one chart high in the U.S.

They are indeed this centuries version of The Robber Barons.

Something they don't make too much about is how they convince local governments to refund the the sales tax collected to Wal-Mart Central.
As an incentive to not go to the next county over and build there. Then they do anyway, and call it "Market Demand". Meanwhile, the local government's tax revenues, are now diverted to the benefit of a single entity, rather than the citizens it was originally intended.

I usually buy media in the used market.

Furthermore, I'm not in love with any of the songs enough to seek it out, given the clips I've heard.

I drove to the nearest WalMart during lunch today. Quickly passing an old couple shuffling into the store and on past the greeter, I made a beeline to the electronics department. Finding the Journey tab in no time...I was pumped...there was the $5.00 re-release of Escape with the four bonus tracks, the greatest hits, another greatest hits...but...shit...no Revelation in the rack.

I thought the Topeka Walmart let me down. Filled with angst, I quickly looked for and soon found the nearest WalMart guy. When asked if they had the newest Journey release, he didn't hesitate and said "God yes. We sure do." I breathed a sigh of relief and said "Good deal!" He said, "We've been playing excerpts of the concert all morning and they sound great." I turned and looked and there they were, filling the bank of Vizio tvs.

He led me to the new release rack and proudly handed me a copy. He said he loved his Essential Journey cd, but wished they had a couple of more off Infinity and Evolution. He couldn't think of their names though. I thought, hey, WalMart guy has some good taste. He then said he is buying his copy of Revelation as soon as he gets off work.

He also told me he was singing in a karaoke contest tonight at a local pub and was hoping to get his fellow Walmart workers to come cheer for him because there was $1000 on the line. He has a Neil Diamond tune all lined up and thinks he has a chance.
