DVD 5.1 Surround mix!!!

Postby inaweofschon » Wed Jun 04, 2008 1:13 pm

Is it just me or is the 5.1 mix on AWYWI really bad? The level keeps going up and down, especially Neal's guitar. Everything seems to smooth out after that. I am confident that it is not my system because I have played the beginning of the dvd several times and the fluctuations are in exactly the same place. It's definitely the dvd.

Besides that, I'm loving this dvd!! Arnel is fantastic!

Anyone else?

It sounded great on mine and it was cranked. I noticed some keyboards in the rear channels instead of it just being the crowd which was nice..

I love Arnel's singing but he still needs a little "grooming"

all night-a

all night-a

oh every night-a

so hold
tight-a

hold tight-a.

That was a little wierd but no deal breaker or anything...

I have some great 5.1 dvd's..... Styx - Return to Paradise is a great one.

this one sounds really really good. my system is about $3,000 and calibrated and I think it sounds excellent.

So no one else is hearing the level fluctuations?

I listened again at work on my pc and it does it there (2.0 mix). So I think I have a bad disc..... :x

Sounded good on my one TV. On the other, Arnel was too low in the mix. No amount of dickering with settings could fix it.

Also a Sam Cooke trait. Speaking of 5.1- anybody know of a good way to shield a 5.1 receiver? It's below my TV and when I use it, I get this shitty 60 cycle hum through my speakers. Drives me nuts.
