I would think that with the album finally out that this would be the time for the big "push." I would release WDILYL and Turn Down The World Tonight next. Those are 2 killer songs.

I did not personally hear it but my brother said he heard AATY on a major radio station where we both live, which was a ballad type station.

Angie, is your station being encouraged to play it (as in payola), or are you playing it because you're getting many requests from your listeners?

Btw, what station do you work for and what city?

As per Journey and their usual bullshit when it comes to radio stations and playing nice, they had nothing to do with it. My pd got a copy of the cd and liked the song.

My station is B102.7. It's a classic rock station in Sioux Falls, SD.

AATY I've stumbled upon in the middle of once in Philly.

Haven't caught NWA yet, though I'd guess that got on too.

Admittedly I don't listen to much radio unless it's the Phillies or sports talk especially now as I'm in full Revelation digestion mode.

I would have done the same freaking thing. If you call me EVERYDAY with the same song, it gets WAY annoying! I KNOW you want it played but especially in our case, we're not a CHR station that has hour and a half rotation on current songs, it just doesn't work that way. It may be played in once a day, at best and in different day parts each time.

Have not heard any new Journey here. In fact, I've never heard any Augeri fronted Journey on the radio either.

Never heard Augeri on the radio, other than a Mark and Bryan interview.
I'm thinking that mgmt may push this version unlike SA's version. I don't know that, but the way the WalMart deal happened, the way the package looks, the TV they've done... it looks like somebody's doing something. Having said that, Journey was also on TV with SA (morning show- yikes).

we'll see

So far, besides the Walmart deal, I'm seeing about the same promotion as Arrival. Of course, Trial By Fire wasn't really promoted a lot, yet When You Love A Woman was played to death on radio in my area.

Zero in my neck of the woods, but LOTS of PERRY-era. There's been a marked increase in classic Journey.

I'm seeing the same amount of promotion that Arrival got- all in one week ;)
The WalMart deal could be a big deal for them. They SHOULD run the two ballads over the muzak system in the stores. That'd sell a buttload of CDs.

Actually did hear Higher Place and All the Way on the radio a couple times back in the day when Arrival was out and they were touring for it. Certainly nothing since then, and nothing with the current line up either.

There's a reason for that. With the DVD being played in every Wal Mart store they want the connection with the old and the new made...even if a certain percentage of consumers don't realize there are 2 different singers on what they hear on the radio and what they hear in the stores. I assume this was part of Wal Mart's plan and why they insisted on the re-records.

I can say that Wal*Mart in store promotions do help. I was in Wal*Mart one day, about a couple of years ago, and they were playing the new Lifehouse CD at the time. The song they were playing was "Blind" and I really thought it sounded pretty good. It was the first time I had heard that song (I had heard You and Me and Come Back Down.) So, I bought the CD. Never regretted it although it was a bit slow in some areas (kind of like a Trial By Fire CD if you will.)

I figure with Leppard doing rather well, Bon Jovi (although selling out to country) hitting it big again, and The Eagles having a respectable amount of success, this is Journey's best shot at a comeback. Hate to harp, but if Perry was in the band, this album would've been huge!

Reminds me of the StarBuck's deal with McCartney's last album. They played it ALL day at Starbucks. Sold a lot of CDs, but their employees were ready to kill each other at the end of the day. I remember reading a review on Itunes or Amazon about the album. The employee basically said that while the album was 'okay', playing it all day amounted to torturing the employees. They really ranted about it.

I can see that.

Haven't heard any Revelation tracks yet. I don't listen to much radio, but have been turning it on lately just to see. I set my alarm clock to the adult contemporary station also.

I did hear Higher Place and All The Way on the radio when Arrival came out.

IF it was the same album. I don't think it would be though. It probably would've been a slower album.
I'm pretty jazzed that the album actually seems so much better paced. Not so many slow songs, lots of mid tempo stuff and some rockers. Seems like all Journey albums after Frontiers kind of lost that balance and became overly soft. I'm happy about that.

I heard Feeling That Way/Anytime on 97.1 the Drive up here not too long back, I had never heard that on the radio before. They did a ad-lib spot about the new album, too. I turned the station to Jack-FM and they were playing "Who's Crying Now". It was a weird night. Twilight Zoneish.

They were at the store I was at. When I went to pick up Revelation on Tuesday, The DVD highlights were playing on every LCD flat screen TV in the department. Nice job!
I said to some of the employees that this is probably going to be THE album of the summer and they looked at me with this blank stare....

I think it must depend on the neighborhood and manager, obviously some are not getting the memo.
My Wal-mart had them stuck on a back wall in a rack that said New Releases alongside Julianna Hough from Dancing with the Stars? :? no video playing and no advertisements like others had spoken of...so not sure
how well they are doing at promoting inside Wal-Mart?

That may explain something. I check the Loop's play list for the past week, not only have they not played NWA, they haven't played any Journey song the past week.

That's why I loved the caller-ID... like clockwork the same exact people would call for the same exact songs at the same exact times during my air shift. I'm all for accomodating listeners, but sweet baby Jesus, that's just lame for everybody involved. If you like the song so much, buy the damn album and leave me be! I'd just ignore the callers like that. Some of them were downright crazy. Like Charles, who'd drive 20 minutes to the payphone and tell you he used his last quarter to call and request the song and please wait 20 minutes to play it until he could get back home.
