Okay...then deduct ten years from Journey's "35 years". Journey were out of the game too from 86 to 96.

Correction...87 to 96.

i'm sick of ALL the insults. seems like some people feel like they have to take sides to prove their loyalty or something. as for myself, i will probably:
1) enjoy seeing JSS at his 2 california shows
2) see at least one of the journey shows in the bay area
3) pirate the new sp cd if/when it's released

I agree with you Cyndy. I'm sick of the insults and the I'm right/your wrong posts. Everyone has a right to listen to whatever blows your skirt up. Enjoy the concerts and when you pirate that copy of SP's cd, let me know I'll help you if you need help.

Ugh. Sad isn't it? I honestly roll my eyes when I read stuff like "I refuse to listen to anything without SP..."

I always say to each his own BUT... to flat out refuse to give something a chance, even?
It might be really good, you don't know until you check it out.

Uhm, I can tell you quite unequivacally that the OP has listened to the new Journey and has decided it's NOT for her. She has a valid point about SP being lambasted throughout these threads. It is sickening.

Since SP was a major part of Journey, the REASON in fact most of us still give a damn, I think the loons have every right to be here. Funny, but I don't see Augerie and JSS peeps painted with that explective. If Herbie hadn't drug Steve from the chicken coops to make Journey history would the band even still exist? Record labels don't pass around money to bands that aren't making money back. Journey before Steve had no hits. No hits =eventually being dropped by your record label. It's as simple as that.

I wonder why.

That's completely irrelevent to ths conversation. The point is these one-sided calculations are often used to minimize Perry's contribution to the band. The reality is that he officially became the singer in '78 and officially left in '98. Twenty years. Not nine.

Not meaning to cause a problem here.... but
I thought he officially joined Journey in '77 and it officially ended in 98?????
Inf. based on the Behind the Music???? Not that it matters.....his contribution to Journey
is something that cannot be measured in years????

Happy to be corrected on that one Michigan Girl. That means Perry was the official lead singer of Journey for a whopping 21 years....

But wait, per the recent interview p claims he TOLD Schon/Cain UNEQUVICALLY in 1987 that was FINISHED with Journey. Schon contradicted that, but nevertheless if you believe perry he flat out left the band in 87 and left no doubt about it.

Me? I'll stick with the "21 year" time frame, albeit with about 10 fallow years.

I can definitely say that after listening to Revelation, it's a good album and Arnel does a decent job on it. With that said, after giving Augeri a chance, Jeff a chance, and Arnel a chance. I'd take Steve Perry over anybody else fronting Journey. If not Perry, I'd be happy with Augeri or Jeff. If not Augeri or Jeff....crap...what was I saying again?

I love all of it. Except that pile of crap Generations, which JoePa uses as background music while seducing his wife. I sold mine to a CD Warehouse for $1. And don't even get me started on Dead13. Arrival was great, but Revelations is better.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

Somehow I ended up with everything except Arrival and now I can't find a copy to save my life.
Had I known how truly horrible Gens was I never would have bothered but it was only $4.
(which is $5 more than its worth)

My Best Buy had the same copy of Arrival sitting there for 2 years and when I actually went to pick it up, it was gone!
