Yep.

Hmmm, interesting. Journey, the corporation owned the rights to all the songs. Songwriters have no say, they just get a royalty.

Nope. Perry wrote the lyrics and the melody, but Schon added the guitar parts to it. Perry added Schon to the credits. Cain had no part of creating Lights.

She was referring to Lovin Touchin Squeezin, not Lights.

Shit. Just realized you were talking about LTS, not Lights. Yep, LTS was totally Perry's tune.

Wait a minute, I just went and saw the song list from Andrew's review. I did mean LovingTouchinSqueezin, and it was NOT re-recorded. I guess they did have to get SP's permission as sole songwriter. Either that, or they had enough respect not to re-do HIS song.

Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' is one the gayest songs in recorded history. It should never be played again. Let Deen sing After The Fall instead.

There you go, telling the band what to do again.

They only needed to record 11 songs. I don't think it had anything to do with who wrote what. Ask the lonely, Send her my love, Still they ride, are more recent hits and would have been better choices as they are a better match for Arnel's abilities than other songs in the catalogue.

I disagree. L-T-S is a bigger hit, and they have been playing this song at every concert since 1979. It is considered one of the "dirty dozen" while the other 3 you listed are not.

I guess if they needed to put 12 songs on the record, than it would have been included but they probably didn't want the track count higher than the number on their new disc. As it stands which song should they have cut to make room for it in your opinion?

You dont repaint the Mona Lisa,
You dont fix the leaning tower of Piza,
You dont remake Mount Rushmore,
You dont step on Supermans cape,
You dont spit into the wind,
You dont pull the mask off the ol Lone Ranger
and you DONT MESS AROUND WITH JOURNEY ORIGINALS!

I listened to them 3 times before tossing the disc in the backseat and pulling out the original greatest hits. Too many sound mistakes - hisses, t's, etc. I think they would have benefited in having Shirley clean up the sound issues. I wish they would have put the care and attention into the recordings that Perry did in the remasters.

I like it so far, only listened to the first 4 though, lol. OTY, DSB, & Faithfully sound really good to me. WITS for some reason though makes me kind of cringe, lol, not sure why. Arnel's voice is great on it though.

Jesus Christ, how could anyone dress like that. Oh wait...forget it. I was rummaging through old pictures and found one of me wearing pants you could fuckin' play checkers on. Don Knots would have been horrified these things were so fucking ugly. I yelled at my mom for that. I was only 5.

The fact is, Arnel completely copies and mimics Perry's own style and the way Perry would only sing those songs, it's a complete ripp-off - shame on Journey. You would hope Arnel would sing those songs for himself and make his own versions up, by adding himself and establishing a new voice and getting credit for his own talents, rather than being a Steve Perry tribute singer - because thats exactly what is happening.

Do you think store-bought cucumbers are waxed for a reason other than making them more appetizing to the customers? :?

I haven't listened to the re-records - don't have a desire too. The DVD was pretty good, but I probably won't watch it again. Love the new songs, 'tho.

Well, don't expect much of a shot... haha! But thanks to that shirt, I'm the only one 15 rows back that can be identified. Details and a screen cap from Rick here:

Much easier to make out on my television, where I can also ID Mrs. Rokken sitting next to me, as well as the guy behind me. And if I really strain, I believe I can see Saint John next to us talking to the guys behind us.
