Journey was JUST HERE and I missed them!

Postby Rip Rokken » Tue Jun 10, 2008 5:16 am

WHAT?!? I can't BELIEVE this... one of my clients told me Journey just played in Arkansas a few days ago, and it turns out they did! Fayetteville, AR is the worldwide H.Q. of Wal-Mart, and they just had their annual shareholder's meeting, and hosted a slew of bands at the Bud Walton Arena, including Journey, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and the All-American Rejects.

I can't BELIEVE I missed this, and as my sister lives in Fayetteville, I even would have had a place to stay. I guess they slipped this date in right before their trip to Spain.

Anyway, I found a great article about it, and it also has interesting info about Journey's deal with Wal-Mart. I mentioned some while ago that I thought using Wal-Mart as a distributor and eliminating middle men was what groups like Journey and the Eagles were trying to do, and it appears I was correct.

On Tuesday, Wal-Mart started selling on an exclusive basis a three-disc collection by the popular 1980s band Journey called ''Revelation.'' And it is doing so without a middleman: The album was bought directly from the band without the help of a record label. Instead, Journey went right to Wal-Mart and kept most of the money a record company would normally take as profit for the group. Last year, Wal-Mart made a similar deal with the Eagles, who like Journey are represented by Front Line Management, the largest U.S. music management company.

I was wondering why they were going up there. I knew it had to be WalMart associated, but didn't know they were playing. They flew through DFW twice and I didn't have time to go see them.

It's ok, and honestly -- knowing now that it was Wed. makes me feel much better. Hell, I'm skipping Dokken in Nashville because it's on a Wed. or Thu. night. Which must have been the reason for...

I can neither confirm nor deny that report, but I have heard rumblings that Spike Lee is already criticizing Dokken for not having a single African American among its members.

Ya know they always play Only the young live. Its one of the classics that has yet to be included on any Journey DVD. Why do they keep omitting this great song(which just happens to be my favorite tune...)from the DVDs?

Thats retarded.my favorite song period. I have bootlegs of perry, neither sounded good, and 5 of Augeri. One was awesome. The verision on the REv. Cd was the best. Was it not as good live? Put that fucker on DVD if someone can sing it, Ive heard AWYWT and LTS 40 times
