The crowd is carrying the harmonies like they did when Jeff was singing with the group. Arnel could probably go down a step on those parts to save his voice a little bit.

Doesn't sound like he's having any trouble. I can't tell by the clips, but it looks like Cain is his usual unsmiley self. I'd love to know what each of them are thinking. Neal seems to be into Arnel a lot. That's cool. Deen, I can't tell. It seemed in the Vegas DVD, the new one, that he was pretty distant, but that could just be the way it looked.

Gotta wonder how happy they are about all this.

I liked the way Arnel does the second line of DSB out of the box, and dare I see doing it differently as if the spirit of Perry was in the building, a soulful version if you will. Awesome! 8) "he took a midnight traaaain going aaaanywhaaare, ahhh" (Well close enough  ) at 0:35- 0:42

Geez, the even outdid the studio version of nwa with a higher pitched yet more soulful - "brand new day" at 0:10- 0:14. Atleast I think so :D

Notice Arnel doing more improvising ? Good sign and his high higher register sounds more clean and less force. Plus I hear him using less force to sing.. Good deal....

I think he'll be fine. (fingers crossed). A good monitor system can go a long way in helping a singer. If you think of those zoo vids, they probably weren't using a state of the art setup. With decent monitors, it really allows you to sing better. Hopefully, without it blowing his hearing.

judging by all the improvs he is doing from show to show (this seems to be a trademark for him), I think it was very intentional that Journey was trying to copy the studio versions of the Greatest Hits note for note for licensing purposes--basically, the average fan wouldn't be able to tell the difference based on a short clip in the background. Doesn't do much help for Arnel trying to distinguish himself, but I'd love to hear a GOOD recording of a show near the end of this tour once all the bugs have been worked out. Controlled, skillful improvising is what makes a concert unique, and where you get the special moments.

I agree, that was great. Here's another version from Jeremey on that same line, that I think is fantastic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjQNiiYhqSA

Man, that was great too! No...that was brilliant. :D

In the horrendous quality youtube of the Germany show, check out Arnel's DSB where he goes "On and on and On and On!" Perry like, geez!
