That would blow my cover. Friga might stage dive and beat me with his keytar for "addressing" him in such a loud and bonoxious manner.

PS That was a one-time deal, Friga.

Haha... I've been thinking about digging up a verse along the lines of "Cain, what hast thou done with thy brother?", but I guess I got beat to the joke.

I listened to them 3 times before tossing the disc in the backseat and pulling out the original greatest hits. Too many sound mistakes - hisses, t's, etc. I think they would have benefited in having Shirley clean up the sound issues. I wish they would have put the care and attention into the recordings that Perry did in the remasters.

Been listening to some of the re-records off and on today.

The only song that stands out to me is Open Arms. It is terrible.

They only needed to record 11 songs. I don't think it had anything to do with who wrote what. Ask the lonely, Send her my love, Still they ride, are more recent hits and would have been better choices as they are a better match for Arnel's abilities than other songs in the catalogue.

I disagree. L-T-S is a bigger hit, and they have been playing this song at every concert since 1979. It is considered one of the "dirty dozen" while the other 3 you listed are not.

"Bigger hit" is not synonymous with "Better song". LTS is okay, but the band has played it to death. If I heard that at the encore, I'd start heading for the car. Been there, done that.

Oh shut up about respect. It's Perry who has none.

Look...aside from a tiny band of chippy middle-aged blokes on this forum who applaud every mediocre thing the band has ever done and who wouldn't know a great singer if he hit them over the head repeatedly with a baseball bat....every self-respecting Journey fan in the world has the utmost respect for Perry.

I respect Perry for that he has done musically.

The rest of the Journey boys are still touring, still making, and dont bullshit every yeard about a "new album". I respect them more.

As far as Im concerned, Separate Ways is the bar set for power vocals. and Arnel does it just about as good as Perry did.

No doubt Chain Reaction is power exemplified. I'd like to hear Arnel do a studio version of it. 8)

Too bad... Saint John and Rip Rokken together makes for the whole party! I'll see ya in Chicago the week before, so you only get half the party, but at least it's the last half! That's the half where Don shows up and puts a lampshade on his head and starts singing Tony Bennett songs... haha!

bwahhaaa, you do know it is fate, and that someday I will run in to DD again!! As a close, personal friend... can you get him to sing Alone Again, instead of Tony Bennett!!! :D

Well if I have to miss out on the 'whole party' - I'll just have to 'suffer' threw two halves. *twist my arm!!* lol

And to stop hijacking this thread, I will add that I was pleasantly surprised with disc 2. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do.
