It's all ego and stubbornness. Just a bunch of headstrong guys (specifically Herbie and Perry). Perry wound up winning that battle in '95. However, when the guys basically told him to shit or get off the pot, his stubbornness probably got the best of the situation. I do not blame Schon, Cain, Valory, and company for continuing on one bit. They were probably pissed, thinking in hindsight, after all this we should've just continued in the 80s.
I think that stubbornness still prevails after all this time too. It may be why Perry doesn't pick up the phone or talks to Neal after all this time. He may feel a little betrayal in his mind, but also may know it may be tempting to go back. However, his ego won't let him go back, so he eliminates all contact and temptation.
Cain knows it, and basically gave Perry a compliment in saying he sticks to his word.

IMO, Cain was "baiting" SP by say how rigorous it is out on the road...implying SP couldn't handle it anymore.

Nah....Schon thinks he's found his next Perry.
Check out Arnel's DSB on the DVD, then pop in the Escape DVD. I laughed my ass off when I watched one after the other. I didn't really want to compare, but I couldn't help myself!![]()

Perry's legacy is in CONCRETE. That has to get under Cain's skin big time.

Actually, if you and others would put your unwarranted hatred of Schon and Cain aside, you would agree with most of my posts.![]()

Why should it? I think the "J-Boys" all acknowledge and respect the legend that Steve Perry is. They are just trying to move on with their music, and I think for the first time in a very long time, they are content with where they are at. Steve Perry on the other hand, does not seem content to me. He sounds like a tortured soul.

At least you added the second part in.
I'm still convinced that if you and he had a sing-off today, he'd kick your ass across the floor.![]()
I know he'd kick mine.

I betcha Schon was just as much of a pain in Perry's ass, with the booze factor fanning the flames.

You have got to be kidding....Schon's drinking problem that he has aluded over the last couple years, is a bit overplayed.
