Should Thread count matter?

Yes, I think we should show people who've been here a while a little more respect.

The date someone joined, or the amount of times you hit the "Post Reply" button should not matter. Its use as an argument to counter someone's views is specious. What matters is how someone expresses their opinion, and it should always be with respect, no matter who is being addressed.

I believe post count is an indication of awsomeness and the higher it is, the more money you should send to the poster.

I don't know what happened last night. I've never been a fan of the "piling on" stuff. People should be allowed to express their agreement or disagreement with anyone...regardless of how "popular" they are...without feeling like they're going to be jumped on. Of course, it should all be done with respect. That just goes without saying.

I agree wholeheartedly. There was a major clique that existed here for far too long. As much as I enjoyed these forums I always felt I'd get shouted down if I didn't toe the party line. Seemingly some of them are now gone. As a long time lurker, that was an impetus for me to start posting at least a little bit. Personally, I'd never run up much of a post count regardless, but it's cool to share some opinions every once in awhile. Thanks all!

I couldn't agree with you more. It's only been recently that I've felt more comfortable posting here. I'm not one to be a big fighter so I'm still a little hesitant to post a whole lot because it sometimes feels like there are some people just waiting to attack.....but it's much better than it used to be.

I don't really think post counts should count towards anything. I've been on boards where I had ALOT of posts and on ones where I didn't have so many. I just wish people would take opposing opinions and have respect for them and not go into attack mode.

Deb. I don't think we could disagree more on our musical tastes. I know she is not a SA fan at all. But I have never seen her post a disrespectful post about him or his fans. She can state her opinions and views without being disrespectful to people who may not have the same opinions.

I think a little bit of gentle bashing and argy-bargy is a good thing- any good streetfight gathers onlookers and keeps people entertained. However, it needs to be done in a light hearted , not malicious way. The problem of course is that you can tell someone to F*ck O** and die with a grin on your face, and its a bit of fun. When it gets put in writing, you cant always ascertain the intent behind it!

I think that time on a board means more than the number of posts you accumulate.

IMO, if someone is registered on a forum for a couple months and has thousands of posts, then they either are involved with every thread on a board, have no life or too much to say.

On the flip side, if someone is registered for years and barely has 100 posts a year, then there might be some reason why they don't post more often.

I've been here since 2005. I left for a while during Tapegate, and off and on when Journey news is slow.

I think post counts should disappear altogether.

Thanks! Right back at ya girl! :) I've never seen you slam others musical tastes either. I agree, it doesn't get your point across any more by doing that. LOL, I can be pretty passionate about my music though when it comes to slamming SP/JSS/EM, case in point.......crawling up one side and down the other of Dan (St John) the other day.

I've always considered 'post count' to be kinda worthless. I mean, who cares? It shouldn't be a pride thing at all. Maybe that tally gets kept in your profile, and not published? Over at Back Talk, someone once said, "higher post count = bigger loser", especially when join date was taken in to consideration. Now I don't necessarily believe that, however, I think there is some sort of distant correlation there somewhere.

Btw, posting naked should only be allowed if a real-time web cam is active.
So all you women feel free to show us who you really are.
