Except that it was on a list of pros and cons regarding which show to best help sell a war.
Plus, the document was clarified by a statement from the Cheney communications director who confirmed:
"I suggested we put the vice president on 'Meet the Press,' which was a tactic we often used...It's our best format."

Okay, so the administration felt that Meet the Press and Russert were less combative and maybe would be a bit friendlier.
That's the same reason the entire democrat party led by John Edwards refused to go on Fox News. "Control message" is implied whenever they appear on ABC,NBC,CBS and CNN.
I don't think that's a valid case for glee at Russert's passing.

As far as I am aware, only the top three candidates boycotted the network.
- And with valid reason, the channel is run by former Rush Limbaugh producer and Republican political operative Roger Ailes.
You might see Carville bobbing up every now and then on CNN, but he was never put in charge of it.

Fox News has already been sued and argued in court for their right to lie, so you are just an idiot.

Yeh, that ratfink Commie Bob Schieffer.
Boy, he sure is liberal.

But you wonder why Cheney didn't run to Stephonopulus, or Chris Matthews?
Don't they have a long history of working for Republicans? Yeah, I'm an idiot!

You mean the same liberal bomb thrower who took notes from Sean Hannity for the last debate, and asked nothing but questions about Reverend Wright and flag pins for the first 45 minutes?

RedWingFan wrote:or Chris Matthews?

You mean the same Chris Mathews who was getting wet dreamily rambling on about Bush having "the sunny nobility of Lincoln."?
Mathews straddles the line daily from Repub to Dem.
Contrary to what he may think, it doesn't make him objective, it makes him a schizophrenic attention-grabbing media whore.

Anchors aren't the same thing as network CEOs.
ABC's Diane Sawyer worked for Nixon, what of it?

Yeah, the Clintonite liberal bomb thrower who's former boss' wife was standing at the podium next to Obama.

Yeah, the same Chris Matthews who gets tingling feelings running up his leg when Obama reads off of a teleprompter.

I can't imagine anyone watching Stephanopoulos and actually walking away thinking his coverage is biased.
He's boring, I'll grant you that.
Furthermore, isn't it common knowledge that he walked away from the Clinton White House on bad terms?

Mathews also oowed and awed and made disingenuous comparisons to JFK during Mitt Romney's purportedly landmark mormonism speech.
Depends which way the wind is blowing.

Well he used to also slobber all over McCain constantly when McCain would slam anything conservative. I'm sure that stopped before the ink on Hillary's "concession" speach dried.
Matthews is a liberal hack!

The media are not liberal. They are corporate with a sensationalism bias.

Sorry TNC...I think you're out of line here, and am disappointed that nobody has called you out on this. You are a legendary poster, and I've always enjoyed your posts. I simply don't think a thread about a man's passing is the time, nor place, to go on about how your poltiics and view of the world didn't agree with his. EVERYONE always believes that their view of the world is the "right one", and that's fine. At the end of the day, we all feel how we feel and aren't going to convert anyone on "the other side".

Political arguments never have a winner or loser. Whether you liked Tim Russert or not, or agreed with his poltiics or not, there is a wife who no longer has her husband...a dad who has to bury his child...a sister who no longer has her brother to call...and a young man, who just graduated from college, who now has to spend his Father's Day helping his mom plan his dad's funeral! Politics aside, 58 is far too young for anyone to die, and it's always very sad when someone loses a loved one.

I didn't really want to turn this thread about a dead man into a pissing match, but ok.
I've got plenty more examples where Russert was remiss in his job.
Anyone who watched some of his election coverage this year should already be all-too-familiar with them (gotcha tactics, trivial UFO, and sports questions).
The limpwristed press in this country is part of the reason we are in as bad a shape as we are in.
Out of the modern staple of anchors, few possed more sway than Tim Russert.

I can't believe you could piss on a guy like this before he's even buried in peace. Pathetic! Why don't you go back home to your mom's house and turn on Air America radio (or is it still on the air?) and stroke your Arriana Huffinton blow up doll. You piece of crap!

Tim Russert was a very fair moderator and a respectable news & politics guy. With an impeccable reputation among those who agreed or disagreed with him. Arrianna Huffington is a total f*cking joke! and if you are too dumb to figure that one out then I feel sorry for you and all your hyper liberal friends who should really move out of mom's house, stop drinking the Koolaid and get a real job.

Didn't your parents teach you to show some kind fo respect for the dead???

In TNC's defense, he would have been more than happy to beat him up while he was alive, for not being liberal enough!

Looks like TNC must have drank down his strong cup of STFU. And (we can all hope) has realized that he was being an asshole, by pissing on Tim Russert's as yet uncovered grave.

Or then again, I'm betting on him popping back up again. Bastards like him, with no sense of right or wrong, respect or lack thereof, tend to not really know when to let up.

I happen to think that Ted Kennedy was a lying scumbag that got away with murder a few decades ago, but I never came on this board and said that when I thought he might be dying a few weeks ago. But then that's the difference between scumbag, neo-socialist, liberals like TNC and your average middle of the road American like me.

My mommy taught me some manners.

Regardless of TNC's rants... Tim Russert was a good man on many fronts. And it's really sad to see him go just a few days before father's day, especially knowing the value he placed on his family.

I only hope that TNC hasn't already and doesn't pro-create. Because if he is feeding this kind of vile sh*t to innocent young children, then the world is only going to get worse.

I think he made it extremely evident that he is a robotic, one-sided political hack with a perpetual air of condescension in his tone. Being closed minded and arrogant at the same time do not make for a good combination.

TNC, we've never talked before, and I have enjoyed alot of your posts, but to come into a thread about someone that just died and slam him again and again over different political beliefs really is a shitty thing to do. To say you have a bit of "relief" about his death is just sick.

What A Loss.........I loved how he went after people using their own previous statements, often contridicting their current views......Big Russ and me showed his devotion to Family.

Also a huge loss for NBC as well, I wonder how they can possibly replace him ? it took 16 years at the helm of MTP to build up the political equity he enjoyed. A tough call for the Head of the news division to be sure.....
