Revelation - Week Two - Sales To Date

Postby Andrew » Sat Jun 14, 2008 9:51 am

Good news folks...in the first half of the new week, sales of Revelation so far amount to 40,356 units!!

The same time last week the band had sold 45,000 units, so the drop off isn't that big so far. This amount of sales (if continued) would see them chart at #7 next week.

Stay tuned...

DAMN I love Journey being relevant once more.

One of my buddies the other day was all like "Prog, I know I made fun of you for liking an 'obscure and forgotten dinosaur rock band', but I've heard good things about the new CD and I gotta hand it to you, you never stopped believing man, and neither did Journey."

The Father's Day sales should allow for it to remain strong through Sunday. Hell it makes for a great last minute gift. This album was strategically placed in an ideal spot. The album is a cinch to go Gold and most likely Platinum before year's end. The television requests should come pouring in.

First week officially was 105,000...

Correct...for a second week mid-week grand total of 145,000 and counting. Good stuff.

If you had to wager a guess, how much do you think the band is making per sale?

I thought they just got paid an up front fee from Walmart.

It's a really good album, the 2 songs that are getting a lot of airplay are really driving it too.

First top 25 hit (AATY) since All The Way in '01.

Damn, that's nearly 600 grand. I wonder what all of that stuff cost to make though. They've probably got bills to pay on the production of the three discs.

There's a definite psychological advantage to having the cd at Wal-Mart=their biggest base of customers
is women.

Most women won't splurge on stuff by going to an individual store, but hey if your basket is already
full of junk you need and there is this $12 item-what the heck-throw it in!

And this is supposed to be what, My Love?

THE  Reason why Revelation is going to to "drop" to #7 in week 2 whilst pushing the Gold Album barrier?

Generations, which I love, is on sale there. as are the '06 remasters including Greatest Hits (which have been on sale there and everywhere since '06 when they came out).

Escape and more tellingly the Greatest Hits remasters did not take off upon release but upon the release of Revelation.
SORT of destroys the "PEOPLE ARE ONLY BUYING REVELATION B/ THEY REALLY THINK IT'S THE GREATEAST HITS!!!!!!!!" argument.

People are (correctly) differentiating between the 2 and buying one or both.
