Perry was the greatest rock tenor there ever was. We don't know what he has now. What was Lukather going to say, that the guy sounds like sandpaper dragged over a picnic table? When Steve Sings then we can judge him but regardless it will be hard for him to have any success in the current market. The new generation knows The Eagles and Journey, not so much Glenn Fry, Don Henley or Steve Perry. I wish Steve the best but I think his listening audience would be a select group , not the masses. I will say if he releases anthing in Japan it will be a big payday for him. After living there for five years I can say they do love Steve Perry. Now If he would go the Pat Benatar route and release a jazz/blues album, I would be first in line to grab it, along with about a million Japanese who love their jazz even more than Perry.
