Prog Journey - "Opened The Door"

Postby TRAGChick » Mon Jun 16, 2008 11:57 am

....yes...it's true...

I never heard this song before.

I guess it's because I got so "Blinders-On" with the whole "Frontiers" thing....how it literally changed my life.

Sounds like they get a bit "ProgRock"....love it; gonna buy the CD. 8)

PS ~ Yes; that's Steve's lower vocals on "yeah you opennnnnned..."

Huh, what? I don't believe it either, Nora! This is a fantastic SP vocals song...sexy instrumental ending, too. I heart Infinity.

"Opened the Door" prog? Nah. Decent enough tune but it's not prog, in my opinion.

Decent song but not really prog...

Check out the first three albums if you can bring yourself to Nora. Now there's some prog Journey for ya's.

People, people, people.....

No; my Loon-ness is FINE, thank you very much!

I meant that YES; I've heard the Radio-songs....but this came out when I was 11 years old...I mean, I liked it and all....but, not enough to want a copy.

But then, when I was 15 and "FRONTIERS" came out......WHOA!

Hey - maybe this should be a topic-within-a-topic....how one "Era's Sound" grabs you more than the other....hmmm.....

It's Journey at its best on tracks 1-3, 5-8, and 10.

Also pick up the self-titled debut. It's the balls, dude.

Interesting. Infinity is what grabbed me, but then again it was brand new and a different kind of voice was coming from Rock-n-Roll. I wasn't much interested in what was blasting on everyone's stereo/radio around me at the time: Lynard Skynard (can't even spell it), Ted Nugent, Charlie Daniels, Bob Seger and a lot of devils screaming in hell music (that's what I named it). Then, I heard this unique voice that seemed like a knife cutting through - that is exactly how it felt to me...and, I was hooked on it. I just remember thinking to myself, "wow, this Rock-n-Roll band guy can feel lonely, too? How can that be?" It was because he sang it so truthfully. I also remember thinking, "somebody who actually enunciates". The weird thing is that I never appreciated it as much as I do now.
