Turn Down The World Tonight

Not much of a ballad guy, but this one is a grabber.

I just want to know who's singing the atmospheric harmonies. Is that Arnel doing his own or Deen?

Probably my favorite cut on the disc. Hope this makes it on the air waves.

I've pondered on this song for four full days, repetitively playing it and thinking this song should be sung by Perry, but you know what, Arnel dererves full credit for the best ballad ever and the key playing on the red piano is the best ever, it knocked WYLAW to a credible second..........Arnel's voice is pure brilliant on this and I take my hat off to the guy. This is a top 5 without a doubt. You always hope for that new song to eclispe the ones you've held so high in the past and Journey have finally done it 8)

Dean in the background or not, this is Arnel's song, well done dude 8)

Amazing isn't it? A virtual nobody from the Philippines. People complain about accent issues, but it all boils down to this unknown Pinoy having the voice that fits. Accent or not, he's the real deal.

The songs got me dude, I can't keep playing it...it's beautiful full stop. I thought the accent issue would be the problem but the guy is amazing...I'm speechless!

Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

It'll have a chance to go platinum because it's a 2 CD set. That is the ONLY reason though.

They should do this with every album.

I LOVE this song..

An immediate top-flight Journey ballad... I'm not a ballad guy at all either but this one kicks ten levels of ass... I LOVE the piano hook and Arnel's voice on this one. This was one of those tunes that grabbed my soul on first listen. Wonderful.

PROG's FAVORITE JOURNEY POWER BALLADS:

1. Faithfully
2. Turn Down the World Tonight
3. When You Love a Woman
4. After All These Years
5. Beyond the Clouds

(Still She Cries was too awesome to be considered a ballad or else it'd be #1)

A great song, right up there with Who's Crying Now, Faithfully, When You Love a Woman, and I'll Be Alright Without You for me in the Journey ballad canon. The chorus harmonies are HUGE[/i]

I think this was played on the new piano - The FAZ. (Fazoli) It is black, you can see it in the new DVD. :)
I LOVE this song.... I can't get enough of the piano hook! It is classic magic, and Arnel sings the hell out of it!

As I predicted...my girlfriend and I both where touched by this tune. We don't get to see each other as much as we'd like and this song just has it for us. an instant classic, even if it is a tiny bit sappy. Arnel...well he just kicks major ass on this one!

TDTWT is a great tune. I'm sure Deen does those backgrounds.

This band is better when the lead doesn't do the backing for his own vocals. Schon's got a good voice for backing. A lot of the early stuff has Schon and Rolie backing and makes for a better sound.

Deen of course is phenomenal.

I think its Arnel doing his own, Lyrics are a little gay, but a great song. That simple piano riff really sticks in my head. Great hook by the Friga I must say, vocals are really good,he sounds much better on the new stuff

Too many DD competing with it.

How refreshing though. An album with cuts we want to hear live instead of goin' on a beer run.

"Cuts we want to hear live" vs. "goin' on a beer run" ..... are these mutually exclusive categories?!? :D

And if Journey plays all good tunes at their concerts, when will I go on a beer run?!? :D

This song hit me as the best on the album since the first listen...period.
Pure CAIN...nothing else. AP does it justice, but so could Augeri or Soto.

I don't know if it's a minor key, or what...but it just grabs me from the first few measures.
Honestly, I've said this before, but it's as absolutely as wonderful as 'Why Can't This Night Go On Forever'.
I swear to every ballad ever written, it's that damn good.

Absolutely love this song, Cains piano sound is the same from his wedding march, which we played for my Daughters wedding last month. I wish this disc had been out then. Great vocals, lead and harmonies. Definite 10.
