OT: Blogging anyone?

Postby conversationpc » Fri Jun 13, 2008 10:51 pm

Does anyone else out there do any blogging? I'd be interested in checking out some of your stuff, if so.

Anyway, mine can be located here... Dave's Blog

Feel free to comment on any of the entries posted there. There's not much content there yet but I'm hoping to do more on a regular basis.

No way no how...not for me.

Dave, while, I admire and respect your bullocks to go out there and blog about whatever it is you blog about. I am quite aprehensive about blogging, in general. The last thing you want is someone who looks to do you harm, gleaning some useful bit of information about you...and using it against you.

I have a friend who works in human resources in a large firm. Before she even meets the person face to face, she checks to see if there's a blog out there somewhere, written by the person. While the existance of a blog doesn't stop the person from getting the job, theres almost always something written in the blog, that creates significant reservations. The subject matter of the blog can also be interview fodder and usually, the person gets caught in a few lies, because the person is too dumb to keep embarassing things out of the blog...the embarassing things are steered towards in the interview and the person lies about it. Not good....

I enjoy the anonymity that not-blogging gives me.

Regardless, Dave, be careful what you blog about...it might bite you in the ass someday.

I've always had a blog... since way back Freshman year of college.

My most current one (on my MySpace, last updated in February) is set to where only my friends can view it. The others are out there for public consumption... but uh, I'm to embarrassed to just dispose of the links here. I guess I'll just remain a blog-o-mystery. :P

I completely agree. I wouldn't even post on a message board unless it was anonymously. I would blog if I was a public figure perhaps, and it enhanced my career, but otherwise have no desire to create a public database of my thoughts or views. They always get used against you when convenient for someone that has it in for you.

Anyway, opinion-wise, not much I can say in a blog that isn't already being said by countless other bloggers, and I definitely have no desire to chronicle the day-to-day details of my life.

Now, I would do some kind of hobby-oriented blog perhaps if it interested me -- music, photography, whatever. Just anonymously. I feel that people who really want to get to know me can spend time with me to do so, and I don't want just any stranger being able to get the Cliff's Notes on me by Googling me... I guess I'm just old-school in my thoughts on that stuff.

But I'll definitely check yours out and will enjoy reading it. Good luck!

Well, I don't include anything completely personal, nothing that I wouldn't post here anyway. Regardless, if my personal views on any given subject keep me from getting a job with some company at some point in the future, I probably don't want to be working for them anyway.

I don't have one, but I read them...in fact, I love them...but, they are crafting/sewing/cooking/thrifting blogs. If I did have one I'd probably be posting that I just watched reality show, "Denise Richards - it's complicated" last night and noticed Denise donated 13 pairs of practically new shoes (Prada, Jimmy Choo) to MY Goodwill.

I got my gorgeous teal cashmere coat at a Goodwill in L.A.! the price tag was still on it-$700/Neiman Marcus,
I paid $40.
Also got a buffet table for $20 that sells at Pottery Barn for several hundred...Goodwill is my homeboy!

Funnily enough I have just started my own blog. As a photographer, and particularly one who does weddings etc, it is almost expected that you run a blog alongside your website (at least that's what my peers keep telling me).

Here it is... http://www.martymoffatt.com/blog

I started it a week or so ago and while there is not much on there yet (and it's probably all quite boring stuff compared to most blogs - after all I do have to be a little careful what I say as past and future clients may read it) I am expecting it to be quite active over the next two weeks. Next Tuesday sees the start of the UK Journey dates and I'll be running a daily commentary on the shows and the pre-show fan gatherings etc.

Actually, I agree. You should blog about how you can work from home just as easily as commuting to the office and wasting gas each day... haha! Then cap it off with the smiley below for greatest effect. I'd love to read about it!

I'm setting one up - it's not gonna be an "I just ate a ham sandwich and shit it out" kinda blog though. Gonna be mostly music reviews/commentary with some sports and politics sprinkled in when I feel like it. I'll bump this up when I get it out to the web.

Add back in the "what you ate for lunch and how it looked when it came out", and I think you have a winning recipe!

Hey, speaking of 'Kansas'. There's a part in one of the new Journey songs that has a distinct Kansas feel. Don't recall the song right now, but it's a mid-tempo thing. There's a part of the song that sounds a lot like 'Play the Game Tonight".

I'll have to listen to it again to tell you exactly where. But, does anyone else notice this?

Let's play a game... it's called "Cocoa Puffs or my roommate's turds?" ...Blog entry #1. Dear Diary, was this a practical joke, or do I live with a rabbit?

...The answer is, COCOA PUFFS! It's just cereal! Yum! BWHAHAHA!!! Oh God, I've been looking for an opportunity to post that all day.

I have a LiveJournal but it's friends only.

I'd be more worried about employers looking for my Myspace/Facebook though.

I saw this on a Bridal blog today:

"When I’m not working I’m hanging out with my amazing fiance and our adorable cat, Steve Perry. Yes that’s right. My cat is named Steve Perry, as in the lead singer of Journey. What of it?"

A lot more mentions of Journey and SP on blogs lately. :)

I just picked up on this while the song was running through my head...It's from "What I Needed". Some of the piano work there is reminiscient of "Play the Game Tonight".
