Jon on La Raza Del Sol

Postby G.I.Jim » Sun Jun 15, 2008 12:28 pm

Just saw this one posted and hadn't heard it in a while. Jonathan starts kicking some serious ass on the Hamond organ around the 4:15 mark. I know a lot of you here think he doesn't have the organ skills of GR, but I think he kicked some serious organ ASS in this clip from the Vegas tour! I think Steve did an amazing job on this song as well! Hope you enjoy,

The performance on that song is worth the price of the entire DVD. It's the highlight of the show.

The whole band smoked on this one.

One of my favorite live performances of any song by any band, ever.

Everyone here knows I like extended jams, off-the-beaten-path lyrical matter, organ solos and mad bass action.

So needless to say I was erupting like Mt. St. Helens when I watched this for the first time.

I'd seen Jon do the organ on "Anyway You Want It" and maybe one or two others, but organ-wise, this is his best performance I've seen to date! I LOVE Augeri's vocals on this too, and thought he did a really gret job!

Damn man...calm down! It was a really cool video though, and I was so excited the first time I heard/saw it!

In other words, you have a newfound appreciation for Jon's organ?

I've been meaning to ask you, since you like DT, have you heard Royal Hunt? The RH 2006 LIVE DVD is a fave of mine...the voice, instruments, energy...it has a powerful effect.

Now, I feel like a Margerita. :)

I wish to God he'd pull the Hammond out more.

If I'd said 'organ' that'd be one thing. I intentionally sidestepped that pile o' pooh.
