Well, they were selling the same Journey mug I bought last year which was a disappointment. Then there was the Journey flag which was a popular item with all the skinhead lager boys...of which there were loads.

Three types of Revelation tour t-shirts. Each one for 20 quid. Two with all the usual 1970s-style Scarab and flames imagery. Another one - in white - with a photo of the new line-up. They also had a girl's version in pink...and a pair of rather unstylish Journey knickers as well.

The choice item of the night though had to be...the Journey bandanna. A mere snip at 7 pounds.

:) I know Rhiannon will call me "emotionally deranged"...but yes...I did feel a bit guilty. It's like having an affair.

I think its really alright Matthew. I hear that Perry does not miss your cold-ass feet in the bed.
He'll be alright. Have your tryst and enjoy.

Oh, STFU already...
Perhaps your a narrow-minded
fan of the Arnel-Led Journey that
gets their panties in a bunge at every
hint of negative criticism...

Go away already

I was curious to read Matt's review on the show. I've been posting on boards with Matt for a few years and I knew it would be a fair, honest review whether I liked it or agreed with it or not. Just tells it as he sees it, has never been one to post anything just to impress anyone.

Exactly.
And the fact that Matty, a pure-blood Loon,
actually enjoyed the show just reaffirms how
honest this review was...

Jonathan Cain in particular is a changed man.

This year though he was moving around the stage like a young gazelle

Arnel? Well his voice is even better than it is on the album and in terms of his stage performance he's come a long way since those formal shows in hotel lobbies we saw on You Tube last year. The band love him and the crowd immediately accepted him. I really think Arnel is going to win a lot of people over on the American tour.

The second thing I missed was the heavy rock/prog edge that Journey had last year. JSS helped to give the band a real bite and you could see he was pushing all the old dogs in the band out of their comfort zone.

and I'd say that this is a much blander group that it was this time last year. It' seemed at times like a Broadway musical version of Journey...with none of the melancholy and angst Perry brought nor the darker edge JSS brought.

A solution for those who believe Arnel may wear down his voice quickly with such a long set:

INSTRUMENTALS. Journey's got several they can play to keep the set a decent length without wearing down Arnel's voice.

NEAL/JON/DEEN singing! Deen can sing most of the catalog, Jon can tackle some Rolie parts and Neal's had lead vox on a handful of Journey tunes.

That could be one of the funniest comebacks I have read since TNC told someone to "Go eat a bag of dicks".
