This is a hidden gem, in my opinion. Does anyone else dig this album? There are several kick ass tracks on this album, my favorite being "Glory Ride". 8)

Eternal Idol and Headless Cross were strong post-Dio Sabbath albums. Tony Martin was a really good singer at one time - his voice reminded me of a cross between Dio and Don Dokken. The other Tony Martin-fronted albums I didnt care for - Forbidden was awful. Tyr and Cross Purposes - eh...

Favorite tunes are The Shining, Ancient Warrior, Headless Cross and When Death Calls.

Eric Singer is a solid drummer, but Cozy Powell was a great fit for Sabbath in that era.

I LOVE Eternal Idol, but Cross Purposes is my favorite Tony Martin. I also have the Eternal Idol demos with Ray Gillan singing. For those who never checked out post-Dio Sabbath, check out Seventh Star, Eternal Idol, and Cross Purposes.

Eternal Idol - a great album. Which version do you prefer? The Tony Martin or Ray Gillen? I prefer the Ray version, don't really know why, I just do.

I actually prefer the Gillen version. Ray was a monster vocalist. It's a shame the Sabs never released anything with his vocals.

While I certainly don't agree with your political views, I am absolutely 100% on your side here. I am a long time Sabbath fan, and while most disregard it, I believe "The Eternal Idol" is as good, if not better, than anything Sabbath has ever done. Great songs -- every one!

I like "Heaven and Hell" and "Mob Rules" better but TEI is a great album in its own right.

The "Heaven and Hell" album is brilliant. Mob Rules is good, but not nearly as good as Heaven and Hell -- btw, are we on a Journey board discussing Black Sabbath? ugh - bloody metal heads!
