Wolverhampton Civic., 22 June (not really a review)

Me and friends went to last night and it was awesome. On our way to the venue, there were heavy traffic just getting off J10 of the M6. Alas the heavy traffic was caused by an accident and not by people all trying to get to the Journey concert. When we arrived at the venue, there were already a number of people outside. I didn't see loads of Pinoys as what some of you guys saw in Vegas...probably just around 20? I was expecting a huge pinoy turn out because of Arnel but I guess he is not as big here as he is in the Pinoy community in America,

My friend and I brought DSLRs and some lenses. We decided to queue on different doors to increase the chance that we can bring at least one camera inside. Bastard ;) got in with his camera while mine was spotted by the eagle eyed lady security guard. She took my camera and my 4 lenses and handed them over to her colleague for safekeeping. Anyway, I think I enjoyed the concert even more without my camera as I would've been busy snapping shots if I managed to sneak it in.

I bought a t-shirt for 20 quids and went inside. The venue was small, I thought that Arnel probably prefers these kinds of venues as they're more intimate. Not sure how many people this venue sits (I reckon between 2000-2500) but all seats were taken. It was a full house and everybody stood up (and remained standing up) when Journey began playing.

Jon Cain was wearing a sleeveless shirt and I sense that he is showing off his new ;D muscles. Stevew2 is right, Jon looks gay. I swear I saw make up on his face (too much in my opinion) ;-) and he did dance a bit awkwardly while pointing his index fingers to the crowd and the thumbs pointing up, kinda geeky I think. He looked happy though and I saw him smiling several times. He even went up on the drum riser and I really thought he's gonna jump! I immediately grabbed my phone and was ready to dial 999 in case he does. I was also tempted to shout "watch the bloody hip, Jon!" He didn't jump, thankfully....he just kinda hop off it. Excellent performance though.

Ross is a funny dude. Although I couldn't help thinking what somebody here said that he looks a day younger than God and with the amount of beer in my system at that time, I couldn't stop myself from giggling at that thought. He does things with his eyes though that is funny as hell.

Neal is indeed a guitar god. He is amazing and I just couldn't help but be amazed...mesmerized even.

I couldn't believe at Deen's performance. How can he hammer at those drums like a man possessed by the devil and then sing at that level? Mother, Father was unbelievably good and I know that he is feeling the song. That is his and I don't think anyone can sing Mother, Father better than he does because you can just sense that he is putting a lot of emotions in to it.

You guys don't worry about Arnel's voice because he's got a lot more power there. I didn't hear any straining and his vocal performance blew me away. Having no one to compare his performance with (Yes, I am guilty as charged! I am a new fan!), I think Arnel owned those songs last night...even the Greatest Hits.

I decided to save a dime when I saw Ozzy in '82, so bought a tee in the parking lot from a "dude" (could also purchase acid from him as well, but passed on that!). Anywho, took it home, washed it and it shrunk to the size of a GI JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In all fairness though, I did have one cool looking GI JOE after that.......................

I'm the proud owner of a new $10 Styx bandana (1 foot square of fabric!); sweat rags were an essential item at Arrowfest in Houston on Sunday...

After the gig, there were a couple of guys selling Journey shirts right outside the Wolves Civic for £5. I bought one and I was amazed to see that the unofficial one used exactly the same brand of shirt. Their only difference apart from the £15 difference in cost was that the unofficial one used the band's picture lifted from their website while the official one has the scarab.
