Well, I have heard Arnel mention the 3 year and I read it elsewhere, though I don't recall where. Both sources were from Arnel or his camp.

That's just it.
One can CALL it a 3 year contract, but the terms may actually show it's merely extendable to 3,
with only one year locked down. That's not spin on anyones part, but more of a glass half-full
(vs. glass half-empty) mindset governing one's words. Unless the contract terms are right before us...
it's really hard to say what's up.

I however am glad Arnel had good legal advice, going in.
While I don't know how much he's making off of his current job,
I at least have reason to believe he could be earning a fair income.

Definitely off it now...

I thought they were talking about a 3 year work visa.

Yes, the working visa = 3 years.
The contract would have to be limited by that fact.

I wonder if there's a possibility your State Department would deny Arnel a renewal...

I would think they would give him a multiple exit entry visa good for 10 years after this one expires, seeing that he should be able to meet all the Financial requirements to show he won't become a ward of the State if Journey dumps him.

I was very impressed from what was on offer last night in Glasgow. It's clear the band want to keep the between songs banter to a minimum; I get the impression Arnel would love to have a few more words with the crowd. He's infectious...hell. why not he's landed one of the biggest jobs in rock and looks genuinely happy to be here.

What I would say to the Perryettes is that he's making these songs his own; more so the ballads. Indeed his interpretations of the 'dirty dozen' has moved on since recording the 'Greatest Hits' disk. He's applying his own vocalisms, in order to work up to the high notes..and he's not (to date anyway) missing a single challenge. At times he does the Perry thing down to a tee....it's prime Perry too...81 and not a detuned semi tone less, but his 'own' voice is as every bit as powerful and unique as Perrys'. Just my opinion, I know folk on here share a different view. He's a great frontman;working up the crowd, throwing shapes...hell I'm 43...he's what two years younger...he looks in his late 20s and acts it too! The lad is a very special talent, and I for one am glad that he ended up with the gig.

I get the feeling the setlist wil be whittled down by the time they get to the US tour and I wouldn't be suprised if a few older gems were included. Some of the Revelation stuff doesn't get hit the mark live (Change For The Better being the main 'culprit').

I wouldn't be suprised if they record another DVD from the US tour.

Being actually at the show, you are so caught up in the moment of it all, you really don't hear a lot of things.
When you actually hear a recording of that show you then hear the things you never heard, if you get my drift.

Went to Manchester and Arnel sounded amazing, but now i have heard the boot of the show, i do hear some straining going on. Don't get me wrong, its Not major, but it is slowly creeping in there nonetheless.

Last night in Glasgow - he was fantastic - he held some of the tough notes for a long time and really pushed them out - but he made it look effortless - he ran the stage quite well and his diction was good. The sound could have been better tho cos Neal was actually too loud and Ross Valory's bass was too loud in the ballads and a clicking noise was prevalent - but other than that its probably the best they have been. Woulda been nice to9 have heard material from TBF and ROR tho - its funny that they have that "legacy voice" and yet the set has a lot of the more muscular tunes in it......

they'd better offer him something unless they wanted Cheap Trick and Survivor come creeping in.

Would it be too much to ask AP to sing a stanza with Heart on the U.S. Tour?

I would be all for it, but the fact that Arnel would only showcase how much range she's lost I doubt it will happen. But I hope it does as it would be an honor for Arnel to stand onstage with a vocal legend. 8) I'm sure he'd really be in awe.

Imagine Arnel used to cover songs of that band. Now, they are just the front act for him. What a turn of events.

what makes you think Ann's lost range?
Everything I'm reading on reviews regarding Arnel have been amazingly good. I know there are peeps just waiting for him to fail, but he seems to be holding his own. Cool.

If Ann has lost any range it is very little. The live clips i have seen have her singing as good as she did in the 70's. Her tone is a bit different but not many would notice.

Do women lose range as they get older - last I heard Ann she sounded fantastic (she was singing with Fergie on a show - can't remember which one).
