Augeri could have stepped away at any time he wanted to. Besides, after his second or third tour it was obvious he wasn't good enough for anything other than to tour the Dirty Dozen and that's what they did. The fact that they didn't replace him should leave him forever indebted to them. He basically made millions more than he really should have because they were so loyal and stuck with him.

'millions'? somehow, I doubt that.

He toured 7 times in 8 years I believe. The 4 or so extra tours from the time it was obvious the lineup wasn't going to ever take off til his end probably netted him about 250 extra gigs...at least. Multiply 250 times the approximate $10,000 he made per show and you have approximately 2.5 million dollars. Simple math, folks.

10,000 PER SHOW? SERIOUSLY? I have a hard time believing he made that much per gig. Is that documented anywhere? Just asking, not challenging you, just wonderin' where the figure came from.

I wanna say Journey usually commanded about $90,000 per show and the band members each split up around $50,000. Selling his 1/5th equal share had to net a pretty penny as well. And that's on top of his "hush money"...which was 6 figures. Very low 6 figures, though.

Wasn't that 1/6th? Wasn't Perry getting an equal cut? Man, I thought it was about 50,000 and wondered at how legit that was.... I hope Augeri invested well.

Actually, if it's just a few songs, it might be a good warm up for him.

But he needs to warm-up for the early morning show! He needs to sound MUCH better than Steve did on his CBS Early Show appearance. And they had a similar scheduling issue with a show the night before and drive all night for the early appearance! But if this is before the FIRST show I think it will be okay. It is more importnat for the rest after the previous gig.

I'm sure that whatever he made is a HELL OF A LOT MORE THAN CAN BE MADE WORKING AT THE GAP!!!

San Antonio is so humid in the summer time, that's better than the dry Las Vegas plus altitude condition from March, but I think that singers treat their "vocal tool" in their own way, so while that technique works well for Jeff, it may not for AP.
Since AP has to do a morning gig, I would hope that they sing just 2 songs, a classic and a new one. I think "Like A Sunshower" is really easy on him and for classic, "Who's Crying Now" is a good choice as well.

Arnel seems to be out of the ordinary... he was sicker than a dog when they recorded Revelation and those long ass nightclub gigs in the Phil couldn't have been easy. He will be fine. 8)

Exactly. It'll be the first thing he does on the back-to-back-to-back show weekend. He'll be fine.

I heard Tommy Shaw makes 5, they have to make more than that.

There was a post on the other board from Tony M (Tony Marshall of Danny Vaughn/Traveler) who opened for Journey last year in the UK. He mentioned that the band stated they were only playing 4 dates a week rather than 5 to make sure they protect Arnel's voice as he is still "green" to touring (his words).

:?: Isn't CBS pre-recording a couple of songs from the actual concert performance? I don't think they'll be performing LIVE on the air that morning. They are taping performances in advance for other artists.

I remember finding a site with Booking information for Journey a few years back that listed $150,000 as the cost of booking the band.

They can't prerecord the actual San Antonio concert, since it won't be until Friday evening. I emailed the local CBS station to get details but they haven't answered me yet. I will be there if it's filmed live that morning. :)
