OT: Los Lonely Boys

I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the Los Lonely Boys (Henry, Jojo, and Ringo Garza) or perhaps their smash hit, "Heaven" from a couple of years ago, but at any rate, they are from here, San Angelo, Texas. Their dad lives about two blocks from where I work. Anyway, as I was taking my afternoon "break", you know, driving around the block 3 or 12 times, I drove by Papa Garza's house with his boys' new cd, FORGIVEN, blasting out of my car. He was outside in his driveway--he smiled real big and waved. Just my ever so small brush with celebrity today.......the Boys will be signing their new cd at our local Wal-Mart tomorrow night. They hope to recapture the success of their first cd which went double platinum and won the Boys a Grammy.

Great band! Believe it or not, I'm hearing their new song as I type – they're playing it on XPN. Love it!

My only gripe with them – and I believe I said it here before – is that their drummer's name is Ringo.
Any professional drummer who thinks it's cool or cute to name themselves Ringo should be beaten.

That's the name his papa gave him! I learned that on the LLB/ Ronnie Milsap CROSSROADS (which kicked my ASS btw)

LLB are one of the finest live acts I've ever seen. Saw them in a club about 4 years ago, and they just freaking rocked! Henry is really chanelling SRV!

yup me too, Tom.

they opened for Willie Nelson and Willie had them join him onstage, with Daddy in tow. Henry turned every song into a blues guitar jam, including Amazing Grace. good thing, cuz willie was stanky that night--he sounded awful. coupled with the fact that i hate country. they played for a very long time. I had to leave, believe it or not.

Ah. Well....ok then. I just thought it was too ironic to have a drummer named Ringo.

Great Band! Loved the first CD, a little disappointed with the second one, and haven't had a chance to pick up the new one yet.
I got their live DVD from Austin a couple of years ago- really good stuff. The part where Henry and JoJo are playing the same guitar was amazing.

The new cd is much more in the vein of the first one--you'll like it-btw, the Wal-Mart version has two extra songs on it, but if you order it from Newbury Comics, you get a free autographed cd sleeve with it-

'fraid not. "Is" refers to the one person therefore it remains singular. ;)

They recorded their first CD at Willie's studio. He is instrumental in their success...

Great, great band. I had no idea they were releasing a 3rd CD. I admit the 2nd one didn't get as much play. I htought it was good, but it didn't stick like the first one. I thought it had more to do with the fact that I didn't hear them playing everywhere!

What would you say is the difference between the first one and the second?

Met the Boys last night at Wal-Mart here in San Angelo. Got a couple of copies of the new one signed. Good, good stuff. More cross-over/accessible than the second cd, much more in the vein of the first one. Under $10 at Wal-Mart, hard to beat, plus the Wal-Mart version has two extra songs on it--
