Yup. And not once did he step onstage and willfully defraud the audience out of their hard earned cash by playing to a tape. Advantage Perry!

I'll take those tapes over 22 years of inactivity any day. Augeri and Co. robbed the fans because they worked too hard and The Portuguese Anteater robbed the fans because he refused to work at all. Unless of course you buy into that bullshit "injury" story.

Heard every single Augeri performance of every single Journey high note, have you? :P

Point taken, but man people are dramatic in this forum!

The amount of hyperbole is usually a direct ratio to the number of exclamation points used in a post...

Augeri is no longer with the company. Jon and Neal are the company, just like they were then while the fraud was happening. How is Perry's refusal or ruluctance to sing robbing you of money? Unless of course you consider your sitting outside the boxoffice waiting for a concert to be announced "robbing you of your time". Even if that's the case . He's not responsible for you not having a life!
Perry's still got the moral high ground here. Your hero's not so much. This one's a losing battle for you dude.

Never said it did. It robbed me of years without music from my favorite band, and he stole years of career life from the other members by his unwillingness to not be able to let go because he was grossly irresponsible in taking care of himself. Herbie had it right..."If I can't go on nobody can." Selfishness, plain and simple...just like Tapegate. But at least I have some fond memories and met some great people...not just a musical void.

RedWingFan wrote: Perry's still got the moral high ground here.

While no one is innocent I'll take the guys that made mistakes because they were trying to make it work...you can take the guy who was trying to destroy it and stick your moral high ground about 12 feet (or halfway) up his Giza beak nose.

RedWingFan wrote: Your hero's not so much.

These guys are no more heros to me than a guy on the street. I'm about the music, nothing more. Sure, saying hi is cool as is having a drink. But it pretty much ends there.

RedWingFan wrote: This one's a losing battle for you dude.

Not so much.

Grossly irresponsible in taking care of himself? You're kidding right? If anything he was the only one who was, had to......to sing almost every night on those ridiculously tight tour schedules. :?

"Grossly irresponsible in taking care of himself".
Thanks for pointing this out Deb. I totally blew by that part.
SJ next time you see a retiree living comfortably. You give him or her hell for being "grossly irresponsible in taking care of himself" because your city needs his working taxdollars. Hilarious.

Absolutely not. I suspect that blow, booze and weed, all in complete excess, are not good for a singer's voice. Not that I know of any singers that have done that. You guys are so fucking naive. You think singing trashed his voice? lol...now that's funny.

"Augeri and Co." Is this what was on the marquee of your local theater when tapegate was going on?
I think it was "Journey" led by Jon and Neal (the victims of a brutally hard labor camp which is the road)
Dude, I like the new cd too. But the incessant dick sucking of this band is getting way out of hand.

It's hard to even give 2 shits about the lineup at this point. Arnel could be the second fucking coming of Perry, Muhammad and Jesus Christ all wrapped into one...and it doesn't change the fact that he's now the 3rd replacement singer in a sad, desperate history of a band with failed morals and objectives. I wish Arnel the best....but sadly, what he stepped into is a fucking circus act now, nothing more nothing less.

2 things:

1) Absolutely no basis for this statement. I have been very fair in my reviews of the band at this point. The highest rating I gave them for a show thus far is a B-...so grind up the peanuts out of my shit and make yourself a peanut butter sandwich.
2) I am not now, nor have I ever been, a democrat. Republican men do not suck dick.

Then I suggest you stop acting like it. All the victimization, "Perry robbed me of my favorite band" crap is sickening.
I hope the new cd hasn't changed your life. That'd be pretty pitiful. Got a few good tunes, gonna take in the show and maybe sing along to the stupid songs.
Perry didn't do a damn thing to you except maybe reveal the emptiness of your own life by his inactivity. This is getting fun.

LOL...you've got me all wrong if you think I'm a victim, or purport myself to be one, in any way. Maybe that's partly my fault, but believe me when I tell you this, I've been living life in the "fast lane" for the better part of 20 years. I travel, have money, multiple properties, don't give a fuck about gas prices, the economy or really anything for that matter. I guess "Saint John" needs to be separated from "Dan" because if you think any of this matters to me in the grand scheme of things you're sorely mistaken. Ask anyone that's met me...I don't give a fuck about anything other than having fun. I'm going to the fucking Detroit show for sure now. Better put your big boy pants on, pal.   :P

You can come out with this dull corporate chat about contracts all you like but if Perry rang up Cain tomorrow and said: "Ditch the new guy and let's write some songs together like the old days" you just know Cain would crumble...

It is a little sad, but bah....I'm not even pissed off any more. After this weekend, the last thing I would want to see him in.......is Journey........singing Perry's songs for the rest of his career. Now he can spread his wings. He got more vocal on some songs I noticed this time then from last time I saw a show of his........like that soulful motown-feel intro to I'll Be Waiting. I have a feeling I'm going to really like this upcoming CD. Soto at his solo, soulful, groovy best!

I've never understood this obsession so many Journey fans have with touring. You catch one, maybe two shows and hear the same songs you've heard for a quarter of a century and then nothing for a year or two.

An album on the other hand is the really big deal...and I don't give a shit what they call it but Perry, Schon and Cain in the studio together would be pure gold and everyone knows it.

He's just done too much in the form of firings, legal wrangling, road blocks, gag orders, touring with others, destroying lineups, "injuries" and so on since 1986. Nothing has changed other than my view of him as a bandmate...or should I say, lack thereof.

Well, it seems to me you've done even less than Perry since 1986 if your current bone idleness is anything to go by.

2 comments, sperm trapper:

1) I've never seen Journey with Perry...neither have countless others on this board. I don't care about some studio produced smoke and mirrors recording. I want the feel and electricity of a live show...each unique in their own way. No edits and no retakes...pure live experience.

2) Your obsession with me, what I do at work, and the need to respond to my every post is becoming hauntingly gay.

Oh shut up about smoke and mirrors. With this comment you're dismissing the band's entire recording career....and if you think there wasn't heavy production on the early albums then you know even less about Journey than I thought you did.

2) Your obsession with me, what I do at work, and the need to respond to my every post is becoming hauntingly gay.

As long as you post the same snide and repetitive mantra about Perry not working...day after day...post after post...over and over again...whilst failing to seeing the utter hypocrisy of your actions...then you're leaving yourself open to comments about your work ethic or lack of it. Post about something else and the chances are that no-one will give a shit what you do.

As for being obsessed..well, I'm afraid it's hard to ignore you because as a result of your rampant messageboard addiction your posts dominate this entire forum...but I'm prepared to give ignoring you another chance.
