I like this place Andrew.

And most angry situations can be calmed with a bit of humour.

And for the record, I told St John I was washing my hair the night of the NKOTB concert!. 8)

I think it's great now Andrew. For awhile there it was a little scary for me because a lot of those people were just here to make trouble, and they took every opportunity to do so. But you have taken care of all that now. I probably don't post very much I guess, but I do enjoy reading this forum very much. Now we still have a few "characters" on this board, but they keep us entertained and I enjoy reading their post. There is freedom on this board still to say what you think, good or bad about Journey, and people are more tolerant about that. You have done a great job Andrew!

I am new to posting here Andrew, but have been reading for a while. In the midst of all the opinions, I have learned alot about Journey, that I never knew. And what I learn, most here can back it up and give references for it. I'm a member of another forum, and the constant cheerleading gets old(especially when it is so one-sided). It's nice to discuss and see that there can be more than one view on topics regarding Journey, Steve Perry, Greg Rolie, etc. Kudos!

Andrew,
Sorry, but I don't think it makes sense to me.

That's a double standard for silliness.
Silly homosexual innuendo against individual Journey members is okay,
but just-as-silly appreciation for the same folks is verboten?
(Unless it's coming from the Loons, LOL..)

I enjoy stevew2's avatar as much as I dig Cain's compositions.
I laugh at Deen's hair, and love his drumming/singing. Etc., etc....
Maybe the board, like Journey, is not what it was,
and never what it could have been, but still is what it is:
simply, what we here have in common, to both celebrate AND criticize.

JM2Pesos
wech.
Definitely off it now...

Several observations:

-This is the best music site on the net...bar none.
-There has been over the top negativity in the past and I was a part of it for a while. Most of us pretty much stopped when the boss asked us to do so. Journey took some lumps and deservedly so. Don't use tapes to that extent again, fuckers. I think they know this.
-With most here not knowing Tito I think there was a sense that his threads were sarcastic and/or baiting...they weren't. He's really that pathetic. :P The man really meant what he said and if you look back he really only pointed out their individual contributions with a brief history lesson. The anger towards these threads some people displayed showed nothing more than a lack of self-control, gave them an excuse to bitch and lobbed up an excuse for them to hate on the band.
-Drew, by and large, runs the board extremely well and lately it's been completely unmoderated. I'll criticize him for not running a perfect board when I become a perfect poster, and we all know that will never happen!!! Cheers, mate. This place is the best and as long as I stay on the net I am proud to call this place home. No one, and I mean no one, runs a better site...be it this particular forum or the outstanding front page.

For what it's worth, I don't think Drew has ever forbidden "appreciation threads". He is simply saying that there is already a forum that has the endless, syrupy, "Journey walks on water", threads. He simply doesn't want his board to turn into that other place, and I for one, don't blame him! Some of us specifically started visiting this site, because the other site simply became disgustingly NAUSEATING!

I can personally attest to the fact that there are moderators on the other site who actually spend their time, sending members emails to tell them how they should feel about a given topic (I've personally received these emails, when I was a member). Drew has NEVER, EVER, EVER sent me (and I doubt he has ever sent one to ANYONE) a single email, criticizing me for my viewpoint, on ANYTHING! For that, I applaud him, and this site for allowing EVERYONE to simply be who they are, and have their own, independent thoughts!

I've only been here, off and on, for about a year. I joined at the beginning of the mess last year. Like a few here, my posting style can get offensive. I was 'warned', and I've adjusted. Do I like change? No. But since this IS the best site(along with Heavy Harmonies) on the web, I compromise.

I've found that after some time, most of the things that can be covered - have. So people try and get inventive, cute, witty.....etc. I find NOTHING wrong with that(for the record)....and a well placed emoticon can save loads of grief.

And to Andrew - I know you didn't want me here, initially, but I hope I've proven different. :D <~~~~ well placed emoticon...

I have to say I really started coming here alot when Tapegate happened. For along time it was a very scary place where no other views other than the 'mob' were tolerated without a vicious personal assault. But that has changed. For the most part, the personal attacks are gone. People can disagree without the name calling and attacks.

I personally could care less about Journey. Gave the new CD a few listens. Thought it was OK but it's already been replaced in rotation. I don't feel like I can't say that I think the J boys for the most part are scumbags. I know most people here are thrilled with the new found success of this band. Doesn't bother me in the least. Some people dig the new stuff and some of us could care less about it. It's all good. It's just a band.

I like reading all the differing opinions here and heated debate can be interesting at times. And there are some extremely witty people here that usually give me a chuckle. So I say you've done a good job here Drew. Board is much less intimidating and I think new people are posting because of this.

(P.S.- PLEASE don't put any restrictions on SteveW. That guy just slays me!! )

This forum is great. I tend to read a lot more than I ever post because I feel that if I am going to post it has to something worth contributing to the greater good. I don't know many of the other members on here the way others do, so I sort of miss out on those connections. But, I have also learned a tremendous amount of things about Journey, being more of a casual fan, been introduced to new artists that have never gotten the attention they deserve. And finally, I do enjoy some of the nonesense at times because it is pretty comical and has a certain entertainment factor when not going overboard. If you want to know something about Journey [or anything else], this is the place to come.

All bullshit aside, I think if you asked Steve Augeri if he'd do it all over again that the answer would certainly be "Yes!!!" And as much as we think they "threw Augeri under the bus" outside of the few hundred people on the net that follow Journey the other 99% have no idea about tapes and all of the other shit. Steve Augeri was given a great opportunity, performed to the best of his abilities and left graciously...albeit somewhat unceremoniously. Such is rock and roll and the fact remains he was basically paid millions to sing someone else's songs. I can't see how he could possibly complain which makes me wonder how you could. :? Not trying to start a debate here, just offering a contrarian opinion. 8)

SJ, I think you are spot on. Certainly the masses will not be standing in line for the new Tall Stories CD [I will] but his time in Journey has certainly afforded him the opportunity to go back and work on some other projects that would never see the light of day if he hadn't been the lead singer for Journey. There are a lot of SA supporters that liked him enough in Journey to buy the TS2 CD whenever it comes out and/or the supposed solo CD that is somewhere in the making. It's always easy to "Monday Morning Quaterback" but basically anything anyone does could probably be handled better.

Andrew, sorry for the slightly off-topic response above.

HHmm....I don't think I've 'complained' anywhere. (at least since the whole TG thing broke) I could be wrong. Was just having a bit of fun with Sean.

And actually, SA did say that we (in a general sense) should let go of the bitterness and move on. But he has always been a better person than I. So I still hold on to a teeny bit of bitterness!!

Andrew~ I really like the place, you have assembled quite the cast of characters!!!! You've got your neighborhood clowns, bullies, smart-asses, sweethearts, geeks, musicians and one self~proclaimed prick. I like them all for who they are and would hate to see any one of them change (including the prick)!! I came here, initially, for information and I have stayed for the laughs, this place makes my day!!!!
