Styles gone soooo wrong....

Postby Deb » Thu Jul 10, 2008 3:50 pm

Somebody posted in another thread about Jonathon Cain's paint-splashed smock and it got me thinking about some of the gawd awful styles in some of the videos from the 70s and 80s. I thought it would be funny to post some of the worst fashions. Post some that you can think of. And just to be a good sport, I'm posting some of my faves at their not so fashionable best.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1VnnNAZ8so That outfit is just wrong Steve, on so many levels.....Gregg's is almost as bad.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_yWTiSS49E Poor Pat Torpey looks like he's wearing his sisters halter top (not to mention the farah hair).....and Paul Gilbert's "brick" outfit and pink guitar with fringe.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyRLW0Fx4XM The gloves, the spandex.

Ahem.

The loon aspect of my brain thinks Steve looks darling. :D And that video reminded me of how good Steve was, how good Rolie was and how cute Neal was! :D

And don't get me started on the JSS video - he can wear gloves, spandex, chiffon or lace - and STILL look good! :D

Mr. Big, however, were hilarious <ducking, fast! :P >

From 1969 -

Chuck still sounds like he did then and looks great - always did. Check out Danny's pants and Cory's shirt. Cory could pull it off though!

I became a Steve Perry fan because he sounded like Chuck Negron to me, so I guess Chuck comes first! :D

Of course, they're good, exactly why they are my faves......I chose these vids strictly for the fashion......in some of their real early stuff.

:D Why am I not surprised Deb would pick out those 3 links for us to watch?
Ah, SP with his polka-dotted ladies housecoat.
I have to say, Neal is the 1 bandmember over years, who has always dressed pretty cool. The lone exception being the blue cape and white bell-bottoms get-up on the WITS video (GH Dvd).

OMG, MistieJ, 3DogNight was quite popular in their day. I had a crush on Cory, he was the cute one. I know Chuck Negron still sings. How about the other 2?

Oh, yeah, Deb you picked the SP outfit that has to be the worst...if I didn't know better I'd have thought Journey = Village people. :D

Here's one that's a WTH!?...I think they need an SOS from these outfits: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f19GKcZU ... re=related
Even the cameraman can't handle it...he pans to the ceiling. :D

Danny and Cory are still touring as Three Dog Night; last I heard, much bad blood between them and Chuck but that was 10 years ago. Did you know Joe Schermie, their original bass player, died in 2002? TDN was always the three lead singers and the original four band members. I met Chuck many times in the mid 90s and also had the chance to meet Floyd Sneed - very nice guy.

Thanks for the info, MistieJ. Ah, I do recall hearing about ThreeDogNight playing here or there. No idea that 2 of the 3 original lead singers are still in it. Chuck, I know, is out on his own. Man, how old are these guys now?

Yeah, but the 10 lb. afro was fashion suicide. Plus it was probably filled with insects and possibly even bird nests.

Let's see, I think Chuck was in his mid-fifties when I met him (let me check)...yep, he is exactly 2 years younger than my mom so he just turned 66.
